Bad Peer

I don't know if this topic belongs here or in multiplayer but since the patch i have extreme difficulties trying to connect to multiplayer games. After clicking on a game in the lobby, it tries to connect to the different players, but it always seems to stuck on a certain player giving the message 'contacting peer'. Before the 1.52 patch i almost never had this problem. Because i don't seem to be the only one seeing the reactions in the lobby chat, i would have liked some opinions or solutions about this problem.

I also find this very anoying, I would actually call the multiplayer part over Gamespy unplayable. It takes hours to get into one single game, and is clearly not worth it, even though it's very entertaining when it finally starts.

I took some time (in fact the whole day) to look into the problem. I managed to start two games today but tried to connect a thousand times encountering bad peers all the time. Since a few hours i disconnected my router and connecte a cable straight from my pc to my cable modem. I normally never have problems to play online games. after removing the router i was suddenly able to join a game, so i thought the problem was the router, but at this moment i am trying to connect to a new game and it again seems impossible. Does this mean the bad peer problem is totally not router related?? At least when he is good configured and the right ports are opened.

I don't think routers have much at all to do with it.
It's a general problem affecting those with or without.

My own connection is a direct broadband modem and I get stuck at connecting to peer 99% of attempts to play multiplayer since Xmas Eve (around release of latest patch).
If I host I get a max of 4 players then it seems no one else can join.

Don't know if it's the patch causing it, or if it's due to the addition of new players on servers who got Civ 4 for Xmas. Whatever, it's a major problem in Civs Multiplayer and they need to sort it out as a lot of folk are getting very frustrated and disgruntled.

I wonder if Firaxis ever bother to look in the Multiplayer lobbys?!?
Someone needs to get in there where they can see their customers getting very peeved..in real time.

No, more people should come complain if they have problems on forums like this. But i guess they are too lazy..

I hope they find out what it is and fix it.
