I bought this game, "Dark Alliance" a week ago on the strength of the PC games. I was very surprised as it is really quite different to the Baldur's Gate PC games. It looks amazing by the way, the graphics are fantastic, but the best bit is....drumroll......if you complete the game once, you are able to play as....DRIZZT DO'URDEN !!!!!!!
So, how is it different? You start with three fixed characters. You don't mess about building up a party. The gameplay is very smooth, there's no fiddliness to it at all, and overall I would say it is more like Diablo than Baldur's Gate PC.
If you like RPGs and have a PS2, you need this game! Anyone else played this?

I played it a bit (don't have a PS2) and heared only good things about it. The graphic is very good. The gameplay is more like Gauntlet / Diablo than BG on PC. It's fun to play but a bit short :(

Well, I am gonna wait for NWN...

It is a bit short - the idea is, complete it on any of the three difficulty levels and you then get a mini-game called "The Gauntlet". You have to rid a dungeon of monsters in under 15 minutes playing as Drizzt with no saves. If you do this you unlock the "extreme" difficulty level. However, you cannot re-load Drizzt save games unless you have completed the "Extreme" difficulty level.
I've had three or four goes at The Gauntlet (I completed the game late last night, on 'easy' difficulty, because I wanted to unlock the "extreme" difficulty quickly) but it is quite tough.
When you unlock "Extreme" you get serious weaponry, which I am looking forward to. You can also port characters into new games from old saves, I believe.

I would prefer Artemis
And like I said: I got no PS2 :o

so stop talking good about the game because that makes little EezT sad
