[GS] Bandname Humour

I don't really know how to use bands for tourism purposes, however, I do like using them as spotters/scouts
I've started experimenting with humorous names such as

1. Nice Round here innit
2. Scouting for Units (please don't take this as an endorsement for Scouting for Girls)
3. Totally Innocent

Does anyone else do this and have any names they regard as funny?

I agree with you I need to get out a lot more but its difficult mid lockdown

Well, you've just got to have a band called "Spinal Tap" regardless of what you are doing in the game.

My other favorite is the "Okefeenokee Glee and Perloo Union", which I have to abbreviate "OGPU" - especially appropriate if I'm playing Russia . . .

A band being used as scouts/spies should, of course, be called "Sergeant Peepers".

When playing with more modern civs I tend to go for the worst possible examples of mysic they have produced. Nothing says culture like Englaenor sponsoring the Spice Girls or Laurier funding Nickelback.

I guess I'm not creative. I just name my bands things like "campus" or "harbor" or whatever their promotion is so I can more quickly see where to send them!

I have to say I'm quite stupid with names, last week the Donald Trump String Quartet went in a pof with a terrible first show. I was pleased.

However, Dagon and the Fishermen did good for a while. And that made me truly happy.

When I get an indie band as Eleanor I tend to name it Lana del Rey... For obvious reasons.

I tend to try to name my bands after real artists from whatever country I’m playing... so Jean-Michel Jarre had the honour of playing my victory concert in my recent GotM victory with France.

Where that’s not possible, puns abound. There are some good Phoenician bands already in this thread—my first GS victory was with Phoenicia, and as well as Deep Purple I had Beirut, and of course Dido.

You have inspired me sir. Someday, I don't know when, I will have a band named Gilgabro, and they will perform as "Legends of Rock." Of course, it would also be fun to have a band "Pericles" with the performance level "Aging Rockers."

I like to use song names for my band names

Sometimes I like to use 'Train in Vain' (The clash), because to me, that's what railroads are worth ;-)

Or if I've successfully built it, I go for 'The hanging garden' (The Cure)

If i'm on the way to SV, I like to name them 'Dans un Spoutnik' (Daniel Belanger) but to appreciate this one, you need to be a Quebecer ;-)

but by far my favorite one is 'Im afraid of Americans' (David Bowie)... I use that one everytime Teddy is in my game ;-)

Finally, I've used 'Madman across the Water' (Elton John) a few times when an AI really pissed me off ;-)

I had a weird late game with a lot of air action (mostly on my side), and I have now a ton of weird band names in my mind for no aparent reason.

- Pilots flying in circles
- Pilots who know how to land
- Stupid crazy AI pilots
- Pilots without planes

What the hell is my mind trying to tell me?

I just name them whatever name i knew from reading Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. If not for it i would have been totally clueless about these bands.
