Howdy....

while there are already a couple of posts here about barbarians, mine is differnent in that it doesnt change existing difficulty levels, but instead adds a new one called BARB-NORM.

it also opens up the barbarians as a much more challenging foe by allowing all techs and units, except settlers, for use at this time. if you choose not to use that, remove this file CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml

Also, the XP cap has been effectively removed against them. if you choose to play with the XP cap, then remove the GlobalDefines.xml file

it also by default checks the raging barbarians option within the custom game screen, but you can remove that by not using the CIV4GameOptionInfos.xml file.

right now, there is only the one level, BARB-NORM, but i will be adding in a BARB-EASY & BARB-HARD & BARB-MP. but right now i'd like to see how people react to the normal difficulty.

this is playing on a large map size of pangea, low oceans, map with no other civs.

as always, please unzip and place in your

My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets\xml

folder making sure that the GlobalDefines.xml is in the root \XML folder.

feedback is most welcomed.

thanks

Absolutely great! welldone, haven't tried it yet but I think this has been an issue since Civ3, having barbs with warriors while you have advanced tech.
Thanks!

LOL, I did the same thing myself, but made the barbarian leader on par with the other AIs except in a few minor aspects. Got quite scary, took over half the globe, wiped out several civs.

Attilla the Hun?

Hi

Is it possible to remove the XP cap whilst not using the rest of the mod?
Sounds like a good mod, though i dont wish to change the original content of Civ IV much.

Thanks

Look at the GlobalDefines.xml file in a vanilla Civ4 install. You can find the animal & barbarian XP caps there. You can change that file directly, or do it the way you're supposed to, which is to add new lines to a GlobalDefinesAlt.xml file with the values you want.
