Barbarian!!!!

Hi

I am new to this game, and my city has been captured by Barbarian(1of3 city). How do I get it back? They are very strong...barbarian with AXE!!! and they are creating more units...Archery. I only have Warrior and Archery. I have currently selected Metal Casting..but its gonna take few turns.

Any hints and tips, would be very helpful.

build more "fog busting" units earlier. barbarians appear in the fog of war, so by putting units outside your boarders, it helps decrease the number of barbs that spawn. usually put them on hills to increase the area they can see.

Well, you could always

1. Hook up some copper/Iron and produce some axes of your own to take back the city. Note this requires a mine AND a road to connect it to your cities.
2. If lacking metals, produce some mounted units and raid the city. This needs horses with a pasture, and of course the roads.
3. Research construction and take back the city with the help of catapults.

I don't know what level you are playing on, but if you start seeing barbarians with axes before you have axes yourself, you could have a problem on your hands.

Metal Casting won't help with barbarians. By the time barbarian axemen show up you should have either horses hooked up for chariots or copper or iron hooked up for axemen. Archers are ok at first, but you need to obtain one of the early strategic resources ... horses, copper, or iron to build better units.

The techs for these are Animal Husbandry (horses), Bronze Working (copper), and Iron Working (iron).
