basic 'how to use mods' question

Once you go into mods and enable a mod do you start the game from the regular menu?

I had this idea you had to start the game from the mods menu but I'm not seeing a way to do that.

Any mods you like? 'Quicker airplane animations' looks good to me, the end-game is slow enough as it is.

Start from the mods menu. After picking your mods, click next and then Single Player. It looks like a title or heading, but it is a menu option. If you back out to the regular menu, your mod selections are ignored.
