Im not sure about the civ2 style batte sounds

but you can replace all the sounds if you want...

you just have to make a .wav or mp3 that matches the format of the original sounds... (and close to the original sound duration :mischief: )

I did it for alot of sounds (air bombing/declare war/cheer/battle victory/etc) and they worked fine! ;)

as for the civ2 as long as they are in a format that can be converted to .wav or mp3 I dont think it should be a problem ;)

here is a tutorial to make custom sounds... (XML edits)

unsure if it works because my attempts failed

I know you can make custom sounds because in mods like CivGold

uses custom music and edited XML files for their unique civs

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=165969

worst comes to worst (and if you have motivation and time :crazyeye: ) you could d/l their mod and see what they did to customize their sounds :goodjob:

I may in the future try to figure out what I am doing wrong with the custom sounds... but right now I am in the middle of making a mod which is taking all of my times

NOTE: I did add some custom sounds by "cheating" and "tweaking" existing sounds that arent used.....

.... using the TUTORIAL SOUNDS! :goodjob:

since they are only used in the tutorial mod... (and are not used anywhere else)

I made my unique sounds (following their sound file names) and put them in my mod folder

then I checked the xml files for the specific references and used those taglines and data in my edit units/building/sounds xml files and folders (in my mod of course) to use their sound entry and references (but since I made the .wav/mp3 sound clips in my mod... it overrides the "vanilla" tutorial sounds)

and viola! custom sounds... sort of :goodjob:

anyway hope that helps! ;)

....one of these days I figure out the real XML editing....
