Are battleships worth the extra cost, or should i just by destroyers?

Well, The only reason I like the Battleship over the destroyer is because of the bombardment rage. So I would say yes and no, If you are going to use its ability then sure if not may as well stick with the Destroyer.

Depends on what you want to do with them. For scouting/exploring or when you have a tech lead destroyers will do just fine. For protecting transports and/or aircraft carriers near an advanced enemies coast you will want the battleships. Also battleships have more range and more power for coastal bombardments.

Woody is right. Given the correct circumstances detroyers will do just fine, but if the AI is more equal to you, battleships are better...

Battleships have the most best bombingefect.

Battleships are groovy to have, especially in large numbers, but if the other Civ likes Nuke Sub's then you might have a bit of a problem. if you want to keep your Battleships largely intact you'll need to go for a Combined Arms type of Navy with all classes of ships, especially AEGIS, which I just love
