Which game do you think has the best music?
In my opinion, they are AOE for the different tunes accompanying every civilization at the start of a game, and Pharaoh.

Test Drive 5
IT HAS ACTUAL MUSIC!

Hmmm I would have to say the best in game music is the music that you don't really notice but still creates an atmosphere. Thus not putting the player off.

I'll go with Dell here...

Mechwarrior 2 had great music. It added to the whole ambiance of the game without overpowering the player. It had this mystical type quality that went well with the whole background story of Clans and all that stuff (it's been a LONG time - I just remember that I LOVED it)

Gran Turismo 2 (for Playstation) also had a great sound track. All of those songs made you want to just GO FAST!!!

Again I go for WINGS. It is freeware game, but... I think that Wings doesn't have a good
music for your opinion, but I just love it's Technohumppa.

I'm a pathetic little wimp.

raaah, Lotus Esprit Trilogy forever

Flashback soundtrack is cool too, I have the CD with special tracks.
I also like Starcraft music, Outlaws western soundtrack and... King's Quest "Girl in the Tower" theme. It's absolutely awesome. Try it, try it.

Now, honestly, I always like the music of most of the games I play. Actually I'm not too demanding.

PS: there's a lot of sites that give old Amiga hits .MOD files for free. I downloaded Silkworm, Supercars, speed ball 2 soundtracks... Mmm, nostalgy, nostalgy

Harmelunnobaiolinhik music, although simple, is really great!

Warcraft II.

It's a cheesy MIDI, but it completely works with the setting.

Final Fantasy VI (3 in US). I won't ever forget character themes such as Cyan's one and Kefka's one. The Original Soundtrack and all its rearrangements are beautiful.

Honorable mentions to, umm....Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 5, 7, 8 and 9 (uhhh I am no FF fan mind you ), Warcraft 2, C&C-Red Alert(loved that game).

PinkyGen, Warcraf 2 in MIDI??? Oh I see, you must have the "non official" version eh? I know, it's the cracked version that everybody have... But normally since I bought the original, soundtracks are in audio format. For the Battlenet edition, it's like Starcraft, it's in Wav format, encapsulated in a huge MPQ file..

Its easy to have good music off a CD
Non CD should be the test.

You have to wonder why he was searching through threads this old...Although then again people do moan about people repeating threads. A 6 month old thread should probably be left to rest in peace though.

Actually I was looking for WW2 game advice and Any info
on how to get Star control 2 to use a soundblaster under
windows. I just couldn't resist when i saw the thread!

Well, since I've missed this topic...
Wings and The Ultimate TK have great music.

It's Techno. But it's still great. NOT.
