Best Leader for Conquest?

I'm a fan of Kublai Khan. He is Aggressive and Creative, so conquering cities gain culture and expand their borders from the point of conquest. I didn't have any concerns with cities flipping back and forth. I wasn't too big of a fan of the Keshik though, so I dunno.

Has anyone tried the Inca? They have an early rush unit with no resource requirement that's upgradable once it becomes obsolete. Also it's Agressive for promotions and cheap barracks and financial - to pay for upgrades and the cost of a large empire.

The aggressive trait gives you a big advantage for conquest. Otherwise, you need something that's going to help you support the costs of a growing empire -- and every trait does that in its own way.

If you want to achieve true conquest, you can't hesitate. You need to beeline to an early powerful unit like horse archers and take out an opponent while they're still getting started. AND you need to raze all but their capitol, otherwise the maintainance costs will choke you. Maintainance will be almost as big a hurdle as any other civilization.

If you hold off on war until the middle ages, it's still possible to achieve domination. The truth is, you don't need a strong UU to dominate or conquest. (But it never hurts to have a good UU.)

I tried the Inca and the Problem with their Quecha Warrior is that you need lots of them to assault a warrior garrison in a city.
But whats interesting with the Inca is that if you happen to have some 2 Gold Tiles near your Home city they are by far the fastest civ to aquire one or more religions (only one that starts with mysticism and financial).
