Personally, I think "Economy" is the most important. Choose "free market" and get +2 to economy that gives you 1 energy in every square! :eek: I have played games where I haven't even built a solar collecter on land with this trait. I prefer to use the sea for my energy needs (especially with SMACX's thermocline transducer improvement), and use the land for production.

Second, I think "Support" is important. When you can support up to base size of free units, suddenly a clean reactor seems like a waste to you. :D A size 12 city could support 12 units and still have maximum production. Awesome!

The most useless trait, I think, is probe. Just built the Nethack Terminus and this trait becomes totally useless. Besides, military units do the job better than probe teams.
 
I like Green. Being able to capture mindworms and isles of the deep for free (and, if there's someone else's city closer than yours, they require no support) is a great way to increase your army size.
 
I prefer support to green. ;) I don't mind getting attacked my mindworms at all since they are just easy energy. I attack a stack of them and get 300+ energy sometimes. Support lets me keep up a real army instead of some silly worms.
 
i dont remember much about this game other than it kicked ass, but i do remember the joy of building the Hunter Seeker Algorithm as the University, knowing those irritating probe teams would never bother me again...
 
I want them all economy suport industry efficacity reseach and green the last game play the Unis at "Citizen level " . go free market than police to atack the Hive green an democraty . then knowledge and cyberethic . eudomia for inudstry the polution was hight but i have 12 secert poject to finish

192 mineral per year with ecodamge so hight that the sea level go up and one of the gaian city was swept by tidal wawe
most of my city had " Pressure dome " some of them were build on water . botom line

MORAL that what decide against " MindsWorms "
I was not happy to see most of my army Green or very green
but realy happy to have a "MindWorms " Demon Boil
 
I prefer Support and Green. Economy isn't important to me, and neither is Industy (though I try not to get negative values at these...)

Been a long time, so I don't remember exactly how I used to play...
 
I think it depends of situation.
SUPORT is very important at the start, when your bases are small and you cant afford to loose minerals on unit suport. But later When your bases get big and have huge mineral production, few minerals less is not a big problem.
Thats why i allways go Police state at the start. Police and green.
Free economy is worthless. It can be used properly (by some factions) only at the start when you have little mineral production and dont have to worry about ecology, and when your bases are small so you dont have to worry about police. Later its impractical. It gives you huge economy bonus but...........DRON RIOTS.............FUNGUS/MIND WORMS BUMS.............must i continue.
PROBE is kinda strange, couse you can ignore it if you wish (building HSA) but if you use it properly it can be devastating.
My favorites are : Suport (at the start) and Planet (later)
I think growth is the most rubish one. Its not really that important that my bases grow a bit more faster. Plus later when i get Cloning vats its completly useless.
