is there any better way to attack then this one:
*turn to communism and create a lot of spies.
*just a few turns before you get mobile warfare you turn to fundamentalism.
*build a lot of armor.
*use your spies to sabotage the enemy´s city walls.
*walk into the defenseless citites.

however, this tactic is just good to attack with. if the enemy counter attack you are in trouble, because the city walls are down.

Well..you can build a bunch of knights and crusaders and get started earlier.

or you can use pre worked settlers to flash forts and use catapults/cannons and sweep the map in a methodical fashion.

or go for "super ironclads" and crush anything coastal...

or nukes and paratroopers..

there is lots of ways but the result is the same.

Or you can do what I like to do: Fight small wars taking targets of oppurtunity untill you get Robotics. Then build a pile of Howitzers, land them on the enemy's rails, and have yourself an enjoyable invasion.

Here's what I like to do: I usually clear out enemies with my Stealth Fighters, use Cruise Missiles and Stealth Bombers on the cities, and paradrop on the helpless defenseless cities. Also, I like attacking their coast with Battleships and AEGIS Cruisers. If you can't find another enemy city, send a helicopter to scout for it.

Well my favorite tactic is the armoured rush along with the beautiful art of bribery. Off load thirty tanks on their shores and they're finished.

You don't even need to sabotage City Walls if you have discovered Robotics. Just build a bunch of Howitzers and send them in; they ignore City Walls entirely, and have an attack of 12, which is higher than that of Armor. Far more effective for a full-scale invasion, and you don't have to worry about making all those Spies that may or may not accomplish their missions.

Hmmm Well I just build the spies/diplomats and the go out and buy every single city - except the capital and the I use all the unites that I usually get from the other cities to conquer that one - often destroying their city walls with a spy/diplomat!!

That way you get to keep a lot of the city improvements that the AI build and I really like that - and I don't have worry much about my cities getting angry since it's only a small number that has any real unites outside.......

I find that even Musketeers can give Armour trouble. Instead, I bide my time, using a spies/ Riflemen combo - barricading outside cities makes them throw away units.

Also sabotage their sqaures - if you pillage irrigation roads and mining especially, they step backwards very quickly.

I find the best help in modern warfare (when most of mine is done) are Howitzers, Alpine Troops, Mech Inf, Stealth Fighters and Battleships. Spies help too by the time you get to Fundamentalism.

Dont forget Fanatics and Partisans for youe pillaging needs!

I usually wait until modern times, and build up an overwhelming combination of air, sea and land power. Use spies to see the battlefield, and then start with cruise missiles, and stealth bombers. Then stealth fighters and helicopters (Lots of choppers...) Then soften the coastline with battleships and AEGIS, softening the way with carrier based aircraft and missiles from subs. Send in transports full of Marines, and waves of Paras, and land armored corps of many Mech Inf, Armor, and Howitzers. Mainly Armor, as they have good move, and attack value. Only problem is when enemy partisans come out, as they block movement, but this is solved by veteran stealth fighters and spies.
Mmm. Combined arms blitzkrieg. So sexy.
Took out the Americans who had 20+ big cities, a decent air force, and a large nuclear deterent, and the similar Aztecs in South America in a single turn, even thought it took several hours to get the force together and in place. I am perfectionist in my war fighting, and try for realism. I like to emulate great operations like Gulf conflict, and Overlord.

If you are playing the AI, research Democracy then build plenty of roads, railroads, spies, alpine troops, partisans, freight, riflemen and artillery. When in negotiations offer or give Democracy. When they switch to Democracy and you have the units attack, gradually move units as close to the target city as you dare. The aim is to occupy squares that produce shields with your own units and citizens to wipe out the cities shields while preventing reinforcement.

You can move your citizens from adjacent cities into the target cities shield generating squares as the defending population are forced out. The frees up your attackers to move on.

On the turn before you want to take the city use your spy/diplomat to investigate and occupy all the shield generating squares that your citizes can't reach. The city now shows a massive deficit of shields. Then wait one turn. Investigate again - Hey Presto you find only those defenders that can be supported from the city itself, usually no more than one. Kill the last defender with your artilery but before you enter re-occupy all squares around the city with any unit to stop those pesky partisans.

This strategy works because the AI usually supports all units in a city from the city. Human players may not. Does not work against whales as your ships won't expel the defending citizens.

This method is great at capturing the enemy capital and inner cities which gernate lots of loot. When they get fed up at losing cities they switch to another government and you can buy their remaining cities with the loot.

Stealth fighters, spies, howitzers, and engineers rule the roost. Freight for stopping partisans, and funding the bribery...
