Best way to change civilization names?

I want to change the names of the civilizations in game to something else, but I'm not sure which file to use. Is it better to modify the gametext_objects file or the civilizationinfos file? Also, out of curiosity, why is one better than the other? I'm also planning on modifying leader names, religions and the like, so I'm curious what benefit I would gain from choosing a specific one and which one would be better to modify.

I think it would be a lot easier to use the gametext. Don't take my word for it though. You can also change civ names in a world builder save if you have to as well.
 
The only trouble with the gametext file is that it seems like I have to modify three different files to get all the civs, one for vanilla, warlords, and bts each. Can I merge these? And if so, how do I "tell" the game which gametext file to check?

Yes! In fact, the beauty of the text files is that you can put whatever you want in whatever file you want and (so long as it's formatted correctly and in the Text folder) it will work. The very best way to do it would be to make your own, mod specific, text file that only contains the text keys you want to edit. The game will automatically go to your mod file first, so you don't need to "tell" it anything! It's insanely easy!
 
Awesome! I knew it was easy for the modders who knew where to start, but I didn't realize it was THAT easy. Alright, off to mod. Thanks for the help!
