Better City Building Queues

I would like to have a better way to manage the building queues in cities. I use building queues a lot to reduce the amount of micromanagement. Sometimes I want to add something in between two items in the building queue and as far as I know, that isn't possible. You can add things at the end of the queue and you can remove items out of the queue. You can even replace one item in the queue by another, but you can't put a new buldingitem inbetween two old ones. The fastest way in the current game to add an item in between to old items in the queue is by removing the queue and creating a new queue from scratch. This of course deminishes the usefullness of building queues as a way to reduce micromanagement.

Yes you can already do that. try clicing in the thing you want to replace and put the replacement building/unit it wont work if the recment building is already in the queue. to delete it from the queue clic on it (in the queue) and press delete

I would like to be able to import building queues. Sort of like in Civ I. When you had a txt file in your civ directory and your build orders set to default or something then the game would pick the build order specified in that txt file. (it was doable, can't remember correctly how it was done)

Or perhaps multiple lists:
you could have:
coastal,
...

I'm not sure if we understand each other correctly. So I'll tell you very exactly what I mean. If you are sure this is possible, then I hope you'll tell me exactly how to do it.

I'm building a marketplace and have the following items in the queue:
1) granery
2) courthouse
3) library
4) rifleman

Now I reasearch industrialization and I want to build a factory in this city at the moment I have completed the marketplace. After that I want to build the buildings I have further down this queue (granery, courthouse, library and rifleman).

So I would like to get the queue (building marketplace)
1) factory
2) granery
3) courthouse
4) library
5) rifleman

I know I can REPLACE the granery with the factory, but then I get
1) factory
2) courthouse
3) library
4) rifleman

That's not what I want. Now I don't build a granery.

So I wan't to add a factory in between the marketplace and the granery. Is this possible (without deleting the whole queue and creating a new one from scratch). I think not, but if you know how to do this, then I would like to know how.

You can save one queue and reload it again, but you probably know that already. If not:
1) make a queue
2) click SHIFT - Q
3) go to another city and open the queue and click Q

You get the same queue in the second city. But something sometimes goes wrong when you can't build the exact same queue there. Don't know why this happens. It should just leave out the items that can't be build, but sometimes other strange things happen.

It is not possible but you can have this:
1)granary
2)factory
3)library
4)rifleman

To do so open the queue
click on the court house (at the queue)
press shift - Q and click on the factory(under the queue)
click out and you are done.

*In this case the factory is second if you were to want it on third clik on the library instead of the court house.*

*You could have done it if you had planed ahead. You could have placed a unit between the market place and the granary so when you could finally be able to build a factory you just would've switched the unit with the factory*

hope this helps.

It is not possible

Somehow, I'm happy that it isn't possible, because that means that I didn't start this tread for nothing. I hope that Firaxis/Atari reads this and thinks that it is one of those things that could be added easily.

The modification of the queue you described is a "replacing" and what I want is a "add in between". This would be much more usefull. It would be much easier to avoid micromanagement.

The idea with placing a unit inbetween wouldn't work in most cases that I would use this option. I want to add in between if something unexpected happens. If I would expect to want to put a building in between two others, I would just not have made such a long queue.

I know of this replacing operation (I replaced the granery with the factory in my previous post). You don't need to press Q.
First click courthouse (it lights up blue) then Shift click Factory is enough.
