Beyond Earth player playing Civ V for the first time.

I guess there is one more complaint about CIV V vs Beyond Earth. It is kind of annoying that I was going for a domination victory, but I won by a cultural victory. It might be a little more difficult to do that if I was playing something higher than chieftain. BE really forces you to commit to one victory type. It makes a much higher learning curve for new players, but it is also much more challenging and as such more satisfying when you win.

Playing on Chieftain lets you take a tour of the game. It's almost impossible to lose at that level. It doesn't give you an appreciation for all the crtical decisions you have to make. I love BNW and I only played a handful of games of BE, so I'll respectfully admit that I don't know the game all that well. I played at the difficulty that called itself standard and there was absolutley no challenge involved because of my basic understanding of Civ. There was very little for me to relearn or discover.. No, I don't know my way around the tech web. Imho it's a very exciting idea. I couldn't agree more that BNW has morr to offer though. Please turn up the difficulty and see what BNW game has to offer.

Chieftain difficulty is not going to make Civ5 depth shine. Having to focus a single victory and all victories from mercury to Apollo being mostly the same experience is not a proof of depth or a steep learning curve :/

If you were making great works on top of your domination victory then it's also not very surprising. GW are a culture mechanic and someone shouldn't be surprised to win culture that way. To be honest when you win that easily maybe it's time to try another difficulty or try to focus more on domination.

I will defer to people who have more experience in both games. I am just hoping the developers are reading this thread to get some more ideas. Maybe. . . . .
