Big time events focused into for decisionmaking?!

Would you like if there were specific scenarios that could be triggered and you focused into a specific situation, where you more or less in first person, as the president/captain/chieftain at hand, had to take a decision whether to go through with an action or not?

Say you're in a normal conquest game, you've reached the modern age some time ago and you're in a cold war with Russia. Both have ICBMs, defensive capabilities and spies on each others side. In between turns, a short video is played up in a command central, a nuclear sub or somewhere appropriate, a short debriefing of whatever knowledge is available from the situation, with the in-game data through your spies, defensive shield, etc, and you're presented a choice to strike back immediately, warn the people or wait for your turn and a possible nuclear strike from Russia.

If you have seen the movie Fail-safe, you probably get what I mean.

This could probably be applied for other situations as well and could make espionage and diplomacy a bit more interesting, and the game a bit more immersive perhaps.

Thoughts?

Please no. Any more radical changes might turn off my enthusiasm for CivV. I know I'm not the only one, and I also know I'm in the minority on this, but some changes seem.......redundant. I'm waiting to be proved wrong by Fireaxis, but this one seems wholly unnecessary, although it sounds interesting, I can only see it being useful as a scenario for a cold war-like thing. Although, there are a bunch of events throughout history that where randomish. It COULD have interesting results, but a civil war is the last thing I want in Civ.

It's not a radical change, but maybe an unnecessary addition. Basically it's the events from civ4 but a bit more situational and rare, happening in between turns and a video played up to set the tone/atmosphere of the situation.
Usually I don't care much for this kind of stuff, but if they were rare it could be exciting to see the video and take the decision "in person".

I think this would be a greater addition to the game than having advisors for example, both are quite unnecessary though.

It might be a problem to implement in a fair way though. If the AI-players also have the same opportunity to launch a strike in between turns based on your actions, you could perhaps be nuked in your turn while shuffling a few ICBMs

I'de rather just stick with text boxes for random events and not be bothered with the video.
