I was surprised that there was no thread on this, so thought i would start one.

I purposefully didnt get it when it came out because firstly i didnt want to spend £30 on it, and secondly i already had a whole heap of games that i had not finished and thought my time would be better spent on them instead. However, i had resolved to play it at some point in the future (when on sale) and studiously avoided spoiling reviews etc to that effect. All i knew about the game was that it was set in a sky city and there was some girl who played an important role.

Steam dutifully obliged in providing me with the sale i was waiting for, and i picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

All i can say is "Wow"! I think Bio Shock Infinite is a work of art. Its a beautiful game, atmospheric, disturbing and has an utterly compelling storyline that is almost unmatched in FPS's. I also think it has one of the best endings i have ever seen in a videogame. Certainly up there with portal in my book.

My only gripe with the story, correct me if its misplaced:

Spoiler :
Im a little unsure how in the reality where the vox have weapons, you are able to have Comstock, Booker the war hero, and Booker who you play. Having said that, ive only played it once so perhaps my understanding is a little off.

Anyone have any other thoughts/opinions? Thing is with this game is that you need to be careful about any spoilers. I liken it to a really good book that you cant put down and want to find out what happens.

Spoiler This is spoilers :
Comstock is required in universes where Columbia exists I think, given how instrumental he was to its creation. In the reality where the Vox gained weapons, that timeline's Booker was already did. The Booker you are playing is from a timeline completely separate from the timeline the game starts in and the timeline where the Vox gains weapons.

I really enjoyed the game. The setting was amazing and a welcomed break from the genre's usual EPICMODERNWARFAREBOOMBOOMKAPOW that has pretty much taken over the genre.

When the game came out, and despite me never playing Bioshock before, I also went through the trouble of avoiding every spoiler possible about the game. I didn't even read reviews, but just kinda guessed from the numbers that the game was good, plus some word of mouth that is always unavoidable.

For me, Bioshock Infinite has the second-greatest story in gaming, behind the original Mass Effect. Oh, and if you want just about every possible interpretation of the ending, go to IGN's wiki for the game. Just be warned, some of it is very nasty math and physics.
