Hi,
I hope this can help someone.
I have a year old HP Pavilion with an ATi Mobility Radeon 9200. I installed the game nicely, and it started nicely, but wouldn't display anything when the game loaded. Most report seeing the units, interface etc. but not the ground. I didn't see ANYTHING. ALL black.
Anyway, I uninstalled the drivers and tried to install this Catalyst thing that seems to be recommended from Firaxis. It wouldn't install due to me not having any driver installed in the first place. Nor could I install any official driver (apparently) because no driver was installed (what?). I tried like four or five, until I found this thread.
The Omega drivers he mentioned worked wonders. I can now play the game perfectly. No modding needed, just those drivers.
What worked for me might work for you. Might be worth a shot of you have similar problems. Anyway - I'm off to play now. I sincerely wish all of you who have problems good luck. It sucks, I know.
