Can anyone help with such a tutorial?
I can make forms in blender, but havent been able to find out yet how to change the colours or how to use a new texture which i would have saved.

Here is a small model of a basic byz building i have made. As you can see it needs new texture ;)

I am not sure if using a 3d program is better for civ3 cities. Definately pixel by pixel by dreadful pixel can create a city, but then again there is the 3d feel that a model has, which gets immediately recognised as what it is: 3d. Also it would be taking a lot less time to create, since the 3d program takes care of the shading.

I'm here. ;)

Texturing a 3D model is something difficult. I had to stop some projects because I was unable to make the good texture.

There are some tutorials on the web. It helped me a lot when I started with Blender. I'll try to find back some of them. At the moment, I can just give you a short path :

- select your object
- in bottom panel, click on "shader" ( the sphere ), it opens new panels
- click on "material buttons" ( red sphere ), and you have the material panel. This is where you can texture your object. A material ( you can give them names ) is the mapping of your object. It can have many textures which mix to make the final effect.

To add/change textures to your material, just click the "texture buttons", just next the "material buttons".

Sincerely, you have to be patient. It took me hours to understand how to make good textures, how to master shadows and how to create transparency, glow or water effects. I had to search lots of informations on the web. And I still don't understand lots of options :(
