When importing into blender the vanilla maceman nif, it gives a python error. The final result is a imported skeleton without mesh :(
Is it a known issue? Does anyone know how to fix it? Does anyone make a import/export nif with 3Max (or other tools) using the custom maceman included below, in order to let me to work on this guy/mesh with blender?

Thanks in advance.

I've followed your tutorial instructions using my custom maceman above, but the trick doesn't work

 for me it worked? Attached the files, one time the nif i imported and also the blend with the imported model. You will see that i removed the weapon, iirc the weapon parts would also need this special threatment. I also removed this FOGTextureIndex Extra Data (no idea what´s the purpose of this, but if needed it can be added afterwards again)

Btw the steps are:
  • remove everything you don´t need
  • export the mesh as obj in Nifskope (with the no Skin warning message)
  • import the mesh again (at the end of the tree - deselect the NiTriShape)
  • exchange the NiTriShapeData
  • delete the remains of the reimported mesh

I still have trouble following your instructions above, but now I'm a bit tired and I'm going to sleep. Tomorrow I WANT to reproduce on my PC the same working nif that you have attached. I tested it and it works fine :)
Thanks again!!! You solved me another trouble :goodjob:
