Hi guys, I'm a newb here as I've only just discovered this place.

Here's my prob:-

I have no problem whatsoever installing the game. The problem starts when I'm going into the game itself. There's no intro video but instead my whole screen is pitch dark blue but there's still sound and music in the background.

So I just press ESC and continue on to where I assume is the main menu. Here I can only see two things, one is the title "CIVILIZATION IV" and secondly is the smooth moving graphic of the globe in the background.

I can't see anything else except for those two things. I then randonly click at the centre of the screen, hoping to click ANYTHING. I here the clicking sounds that indicate that I've clicked something. I go on clicking and clicking until there's a persons voice saying "Welcome to ....." and then right there and there it does on me an infamous CTD.

So that basically sums up my whole problem.

Here are my specs:-

Intel Pentium M735 processor
1.7 Ghz
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700/64MB
1GB RAM

Also, I realise I'm not the only one suffering from this problem on an ATI Mobility Radeon card.

I'm just dying to play this awesome game and I would really really appreciate it if anyone could give me a solution to it.

Thanks.

Guess what guys, I managed to fix my problem and got to play CIV IV.

Here's what I did:-

I installed the Catalyst 4.12 driver on my laptop.

Then I downloaded the unpack file from the "fix it list" sticky at the top of this forum.

I then deleted the hidden "cache" file from the CIV IV folder under the Documents and Settings folder.

Basically that's it and now its running.

On a note, I still do experience some CTDs especially when I try to exit to the main menu.

Also I can't view the intro movie as it will stutter a bit and then goes straight ahead to main menu.

On the whole, I feel really happy that I've finally managed to resolve this problem.

Thanks guys.
