Hi
Finally got it working and it is awesome in look. Not to impressed with gameplay, not as good as Civ III (IMO). Anyway, I am playing with a huge world and for some reason when I Load a game (where I last played) it goes through the start sequence but whem it ought to go to the game it blue screens. I have noticed that this is nearly always the case around the year 1500. Will a more powerful video card be the answer?, bearing in mind I am playing with a huge world? I do have a new card coming anyway (Club 3D GeForce 6600 256Mb Ddr AGP Dvi Tvo).
Is there an option to change the number of civilisations and which ones?
Cheers

Not sure what you mean by 'blue screen', you mean a 'Blue screen of Death' or just a blue screen in the game? Could you post your current spec please too?

You can change the number of civs by starting a 'Custom Game' as opposed to clicking 'Play Now'. Might be worth upgrading the RAM if you only have 512mb. I had a similar problem where loading a game it would just freeze showing the map, units but no interface. Alt-tabbing back to desktop then back to the game seems to get it going again. Could try Harkionnen's memory patch too and see if that helps. For playing Huge maps you need at least 1Gb of RAM or it will be swapping to the HD alot, slowing the game down.

Hope it helps.

Hi
Sorry I meant Blue Screen of Death.

Current specs are 1GB RAM, 120G HDD, AMD Athlon XP 2600 1.92 Ghz and NVidia GeForce FX 5200 238 Mb.

Where can I get the Harkonens patch from?

Cheers

Thanks for that. Just got my new video card, installed it and drivers, tried the game. Obviously the animations and speed is better, but also I was able to open and play the ones that previously crashed and gave me the Blue Screen of Death. so, I think, hope, that this has sorted it out. I will keep a hold of the Harkonen patch just to be on the safe side. I have played Civ IV for about 3 hours. Still prefer civ III for gameplay though.
Once again, thanks
Nig
