Friends and I are doing a pitboss game right now and some are fairly new, so they asked me to make a tutorial video. I made mistakes left and right but I think it was pretty decent. If these interest you or you've got a good suggestion to improve it, let me know.

Sorry for the late second video - just been wrapped up watching the International 3.

I liked this a lot and its great to see a starter vid for new players.

No big ideas about how to improve it. I think you got the mix just right.

What would be things I really missed in the 2nd video? I'm going to show caravans and the religion area, but what else are key things I'm missing for newbies?

It was a really good intro video, tou speak calmly and clearly, and also explain why you do things.

You said squares when you should say tiles, you said that you always move the settler first whre you meant warrior. Small things easily correted by captions.

Good job!

Watched the entire thing. Don't agree with all what you said but it was helpfull. I think you need to make them shorter. It's too long and your voice just drones on. While you have a better voice than others, it just goes on too long.

Subtitles as was suggested would be great as well.

Also a bit hard to take you serious. By that I mean, you go too much, "hhmmm, haaaa, what to do?" espically when you already scouted the land before the tuturial. I was thinking why should I keep watching if he already knows how the land is, and doesn't even know what to do?

Also it took me 3 times rewinding, in the begining, you move your warrior, but you say, you rather move your settlers. I thought at first you were going to move your settler but you moved the warrior instead. Need to be a bit more clear what was your intention since if this is made for people who never played before, it was a bit confusing.

I am just giving your constructive criticism, so you can get better. I did learn a few new things, and liked what you did. Please keep it up.

Watched the first half of the vid.
I think you have a good style for teaching this way, you but should focus more on game mechanics than strategy.
For instance, I don't agree with your start location (you should either go up to the coastal hill or settle in place for all the wheat, the marble will get got pretty early anyway and you still get the lux and the production bonus on the 4th ring), and with this start and civ, shrines are not nearly as important as the granary, which is mega huge.
I think you started talking about farms and pastures without introducing the concept of a worker or an improvement, and a little more on what the basic mechanics actually are would be really useful to new players.
In general, I think it's a pretty good job, I'd just go over the basics a little more and not try to teach too much strategy, as part of the fun is finding out what works for yourself.

Video #2 is up (edited to be in the first post)! Sorry for the late second video - just been wrapped up watching the International 3.

Again let me know what you think!

Not entirely sure this is a stories/L&P, it was more instructional... but guess it could go here :) It's a six month old thread though.
