Hi everybody.
First, as it's my first post, i'd like to introduce myself, I'm a french player, big fan of the civilization serie since the very first one.

I'm curently in a tricky game: playing the Mayans in a Pangea map, Normal, Normal, Emperor difficulty, I have 3 very agressive AIs on the continent: Shaka, Genghis and Attila. Two of them being my closest neighbors: Shaka and Attila. The others (peaceful) AI are Dido, Wu Zeitan, William and the Indonesian.

I think I did quite good on the begining, settling 4 good cities and taking the tech lead by the middle age. I tried to handle my agressive neighbor by keeping them busy waging war on each other or on other AI, but Shaka dowed me on turn 180 and attacked me with a rather impressive army.

Anyway I managed to handle the agression and get a fair peace treaty with him.
My problem is I don't really know how to manage 3 warmongers a the same time, and I don't know which VC I should go for. Try to beat them on their own field and go for domination or go for a peaceful science or diplo victory?

Another issue in this game is there are no cultural CS. Usualy I rely on them to have a nice culture generation but it gets more tricky without them and i'm late on the SPs.

What do you think? Any guidance will be apreciated.

Welcome to Civfanatics! :D

You're gonna need to bribe them into wars a lot. Also, you're gonna need a good army. Use the tech lead to have better troops than they do.

For VC, domination would be tough, go for science/diplo. Keep the tech lead you have and increase it and you'll be good.

Also, a screenshot would help.

Emperor is awkward for this. Shaka will get his Impi's out and get a lot of them sooner than you wish. On Immortal difficulty, I ignore Shaka unless he is very close and starts forward settling, and even there he will often not DoW if I send him a TR. I just head on up to Education and hope that I can tech down to Machinery before he shows up with an army, I do how ever crank out 4 archers as time/gold allows rather than ignore my military altogether.

The problem you will probably have is that if you plow Shaka, Attila will probably DoW at the most awkward time. If you can keep them at war then all is good. You should be able to get a solid tech lead on Emperor and they will both cease to be a concern by the early Renaissance.

The thing is to not panic, stay calm, and play your intended game as best as possible. If they force your hand, you may have to go wipe them out. You can decide then if you want to carry on. I personally find dom victories on standard Pangaea maps tiresome.

Thanks for your advices

I think i'll go for a science/diplo victory and keep my army strong enough to prevent them to dow me. I neglected this, I think when Shaka dowed me I was 7th in the military demographics, I was to much focused on improving my cities, because I always thought I had great buildings to build.
Shaka is now pissing me off, taunting me everytime he asks tribute from my protected CS, but anyway, it's not a big deal.

I havent done this since G+K, but Genghis is always weak until he gets his UU. You can probably kill him and gain respect from the others.

Actually any time I find myself surrounded by warlike AIs that invest lest in science and culture I cheer because when it comes to war you can easily out-war the AI but when it comes to building and science the AI cheats.
