Bombed by own uranium?

I've been wondering what happens to a nuke you already built, when you loose access to your uranium source? Does it do less damage or does it still kill everything in the blast radius?

In one game I didn't have any uranium in my territory, so i was considering trading myself to some uranium from my closest neighbor, rush buying nukes and then DOW him and use his own uranium to bomb and take the city that had the uranium mine.

Appart from the obvious bad moral of the tactic, would it work?

Does the same thing.
Don't know about a-bombs.
yes, your evil and malicious plan would work.

I've done something similar to that before. I coup'd a city state that Ethiopia had held for most of the game because it was the only source of :nuke: on the map. Then I rush bought 3 nukes and dopped them on Ethiopia. I felt really bad... sort of.

I'm not certain about this, but iirc, you only need the Uranium to build the a-bomb, then once it's built, you can use it normally, even if you have no Uranium. However, the Uranium won't go back into store unless you use the a-bomb. Missiles are similar, only use 2 Uranium each.

You will almost never have a problem of running out of uranium after a bomb is already built. But it is possible.

Suppose you have 4 of your own uranium. And you defeat a civ in a war, and as part of the peace terms he gives you 4 uranium. So now you can build 8 bombs. Suppose you are able to build 5 before the peace treaty ends. Once the treaty ends you lose the 4 uranium that the other civ gave you. And you will have a uranium deficit by going to down to -1 uranium. You will not be able to build any more bombs, but you can still use the bombs that you already have and they will function normally. If you find a new uranium recourse of 2 uranium, it will only bring your total usable uranium to +1.

Edit: I read your original question again and realized that I didn't really answer it. In the situation above that's how it would work. So if you started out with 0 uranium, and got another civ to trade you his, it would work the same way. Once you DOW with the other civ you will have a uranium deficit, but you can still use the bombs you already have and they will work the same way, just as powerful and everything.
