Bomber direction

I am getting bombed by enemy bombers appearing to come from different directions. Does this signifiy the direction from which the bombers took off? Never realy knew that and I have played CIV for years. Anyone know for sure?

It's from the direction the bombers took off, or the closest "direction". There's only eight angles it can bomb from.
