I thought I'd dust of the RaR mod for the first time in years and play campaign during this wet winter, but first on the off chance there was an update to the mod I checked the forum. Imagine my great surprise when I found WtP and all the work done to build on the TAC and RaR mods by some of the same team members and some new blood. So very stoked to get into this game. Who needs Civ 7 anyway 😉

So I did the mod install, put it in the game folder and not the My Games folder. Ran the batch file and everything seemed to work just fine. BUT every time I launch the game I get this dialog box:
WtP dialog.JPG

If I click Yes it closes the game.....the end, no restart, no nothing. I restart the game manually and it cycles back to this dialog box, wash, rinse, repeat. If I click No the game launches and so far (which is not very far yet) it seems to run normally. In any event, I'd like to make this dialog box stop happening. Anyone out there able to provide some help?

Any many many many many thanks and kudos to those of you on the team that have done this work. You have a fan right here!!

Edit: I am running the CD version of the game.

Regards,
Loudscott

First of all, it is safe to ignore that message if you are aware that you can only select FaireWeatherTweakEx for random maps.

Apparently you have an issue writing to files inside the mod folder. It should create a .ini file with the name of your mod folder (so like WeThePeople.ini). In that file, there should be a line saying
Code:
; Allow public maps to be used with this mod
AllowPublicMaps = 0
If it doesn't say 0 or the file doesn't exist, then you will get this message. You can add it manually and the popup should go away.

That's the first time I have seen it reported that this popup doesn't go away. It should only show once.

Thank you for the speedy reply!! You the man. Turns out the MODS folder's inherited security settings needed a tweak. Restarted it and watched the .ini file get written to the folder and everything is as you say it is. Again, I can not express enough gratitude for the work you and the other members have put into this mod and my extraordinary good luck in stumbling across this massive step forward in the game yesterday. I have my coffee and my (now retired) many hours of exploring in front of me.
