Bootcamp Game?

In response on Nighthawk's remark on PBEM tracker:

my land sucks, im going to get absolutely no production for a long time...

You got, just like the rest of us, wheat, fish and copper in your city radius.
Furthermore, you can check on the continents that there are no big differences there.

And don't forget you all have oil, iron, horses and coal on your continent..

I'm sure the continents are balanced, but my starting point seems so empty. I got a bunch of grassland, yes, but only 1 hill! And no rivers! I can throw a mine on the hill, but otherwise can't get production until workshops. It will be great for cottaging, but no one wants a capital thats just a decent commerce city!

It's ok, I'll deal with it... just needed to vent a little frustration. I tend to put more importance into production than commerce, so all I see is a semi-useless city right now.

Regarding starting positions, I have a worker that is just sitting there until I learn tech... Can't mind because of trees and can't get wheat until I "learn how". The worker is enjoying a nice vacation for now, but it wont be long and he'll have to earn his keep.

and check the map I posted in this thread..

Ps my best capitals have been great science and commerce centers..

You didnt post my map!

It's ok, I dont need to see it. Thats just a difference in our playstyles then. I enjoy my capital when its a huge production center. Food + hills/trees with a river running through it is my perfect capital. The production capital supports the rest of the empires expansion and army; commerce cities are built as needed to expand the economy, a nice food+farm area for a GPP factory, and a nice coastal production city that focuses on water units. I just hate needing to wait to be able to produce things fast, I want to get a bunch of units out FAST in the early game! Not to rush, just to explore, defend new cities, defend workers, etc. Thats just me though. i'll shut up and stop complaining. :p

Oh wow look at the center of these maps!

Barbarians in the middle? So Cal without saying to much how do you think this will impact the game? (1~10) 1 being just a city someone will take, or 10 an extreme component of much of the game.
Edit; I mean in regards to Barbarians of course.

3.
(saying not too much ? :) )

And on the barbs in the middle:
the attentive reader knows there are barbarian immortals roaming around.

The center is something to aspire to..
but be ready for the steep maintenance..
and when you want it to be connected to the rest of your territories you got to get past the castle guarding your continent.

I just wanted to publicly apologize to Cal for complaining about the map. I am not normally like that and he put in a lot of effort into this map. It's very very interesting and my complaints were mainly a different opinion about the type of start/capital I'd prefer, nothing that really matters in the long run. So my apologies...

I've uploaded the turn to my Teammate
but I suggest we use regular email until the trackers hiccups has past.

I'm largely email based even if we use the pbemtracker because it sends me the turn via email and I know that I have it but it is currently not doing that

If I may suggest, I have PBEM Tracker as a favorite and check it about twice a day. I hardly ever get the email notifications. Either they go to spam or do not come at all, but it never was an issue to me because, as I mentioned, I check PBEM Tracker periodically.

Just a thought...

Or just set up your email correctly..:

Make PBEMTracker a trusted source.
Thanks if this was for me. I use the pbemtracker a lot, it is just recently I stopped receiving the turn through it
