i got to thinking about waht people were talking of for forts. Typicaly when playing vanilla civ i tend to play sevomod. in sevomod there are several grades of forts and bonuses that are gained via the fort 1,2,3 promotions. With this i started thinking placement and attitudes and came up with a few findings.
-- forts tend to be placed inside cultural borders but outside workable squares.
-- forts are designed both for staging and for defense
thinking along these lines i got to thinking of diferent promotions that are tied to techs and the fort improvement.
-- fortification (1,2,3) granted by bronze, iron, mithril working
--- gives +20% combat
-- arrowslits (1,2,3) granted by ... blanking and dont have infront of me ... tech that grants ( archers , longbowmen , marksmen)
--- gives drill 1,2,3
-- spotters ... granted by poisons
--- allows you to see stealthed units
-- sally granted down the calvary tree
--- gives +1,2,3 movement
all of these promotions woudl be kept until the end of turn
I also was thinking of a defense only and sight promotions that are kept only while inside the fort.
i am nto a programmer , but seeing as how another mod already used this approach it shoudl be possible
