Turn0 agonized about whether to settle on coast or walk, the warrior was almost no help.
The jungle hill appears to be on the coast (river or coast, and not fresh water), so _maybe_ I am on a little peninsula, and _maybe_ walking also serves as an aggressive land claim
Don't love to walk away from river pigs, but in the end, I have to focus on city placement over speed or claiming land
Consoling myself with the fact I don't have to tech fishing/sailing…?
I see the silk, and the outline of jungle, and start to doubt myself, but I am already committed
Turn1 now I see the ocean on the other side, and I have NO IDEA what to do.
wow, this is a lot of calendar resources… I hate calendar resources
turn4, I have mapped the island, and not settled. This island sucks. I think it is time to re-roll the map
forest mountain, grassland incense, sugar high jungle, and the best food tile right next to where I started from… you should be ashamed of yourself
turn6, SIP… I am trying to think of something witty to say about that. Failed
I realize I have nothing useful to build. A worker could pre-chop…?
I start on Agriculture, to make my way to Animal Husbandry. Hunting might be faster, but I need economy before archers
turn14 start on Animal Husbandry. Buddhism was founded on turn9
turn18 Hinduism founded. I could have gotten this, but that wouldn't have helped me on this island
turn20 the silk grew a forest. Small blessing
turn21 worker complete. Not much else to do, and Noble will allow me to hang on to some extra warriors, so I will start on my garrison for the next city, while I have nothing better to do
oh… that's right… can' chop without Bronze Working. This is looking more like a game that should never see the light of day
turn22 I am not having fun. I know this is against the rules, but I am going to start back over at 0. Won't count as a finish, but maybe I can learn something?
no, looking at it, I am only 10 turns behind the AI at this point. It's only Noble… but this map better start getting good!
turn24 I didn't need a horse resource (unless I did, and I have neighbors about to invade me, in which case I will be looking up naughty words in Swedish very shortly), but the hammers will help
start on Bronze Working
dotmapping the island, it looks like I can put a city all the way to the West (fish in 2nd ring) for only 0.25 more distance maintenance cost, and while I would give up a grassland, I might possibly reach more land that way. That makes a city 3.5 south with the (forest) silk and sugar viable, up against SugarHigh, and one on the Eastern edge, with a crappy plains city in between on the north shore.
Maybe I should break up SugarHigh, but 1) I don't see a good way to do it, and 2) once I have Calendar I will need a way to pump out workers fast, and then settlers, to try to catch up
I have decided that city number two in the west will be Incensed!, just like me
turn32, grow to size 3, start on settler
in other Noble games, I think I often see Stonehenge around turn 60. The settler will be done around 43. 18 turns allows 6 chops, 20 hammers each, with plenty of time to finish the wonder. I'll try that instead of city3, since I am not sure city3 can make a profit at this point
turn35, Bronze Working, start on Fishing
turn37, I'll chop into the settlers to speed things along
turn38, whip settler for 1
turn39, start on Stonehenge. Fingers crossed
turn40, Fishing complete. I am going to need Iron Working and galleys, but I also want cottages and granaries, and Colossus would be pretty sweet. Start on The Wheel
I don't remember if advancing to the next age makes my tech rate faster or slower, I'll need to write that down for later
turn41, Judaism founded. Somewhere
turn42, Incensed! founded on west edge of island, starts on workboat
turn45, 2nd chop into Stonehenge
turn47, RiverPig grows to 4, whips Stonehenge, I pre-chop one more before The Wheel finishes
turn48, Stonehenge completed. Workboat for exploring (maybe reduce my tech rate?)
turn50, RiverPig border pop, finished The Wheel, start on Pottery, Ethiopia stops by to say hi. I tell him he can come by later and borrow a cup of sugar
turn51, I am third largest at 2 puny cities. (Zara is 7th at 1.) Zara only putting 2 espionage in to me/turn, must know (at least) one other civ
turn54, finish Pottery. I want Writing and Sailing, but I will start on Iron Working first to build my army of workers
turn55, Zara adopts slavery
turn57, Incensed! border pop, I see 'something' over there, only time will tell if it is something good. RiverPig finishes workboat and starts on settler. Also finished road between cities
turn60, whip Incensed! workboat to get a leg up on the granary
turn63, whip settler for SugarHigh, road there almost finished. Next is worker
turn65, got notification that Zara will trade clam, so I gift my fish
turn66, finish Iron Working, doesn't change my dotmap (but makes my crappy plains city slightly less crappy). Start on Writing. Found SugarHigh on the coast in the middle of all the sugars
turn68, workboat has reached edge of island, sees new land! …a single mountain?
turn69, ok, found actual land, now. But I don't trust Anything now! Finished a worker, start on settler. Whip granary in Incensed!
turn70, decide to explore south, because of odd explored clam, but I feel like I am being tricked, somehow. Start warrior in Incensed!
turn72, finish Writing, open borders with Zara, start Sailing, see Aksum, confirm MaxPlot distance is 72
turn73, meet Pericles. He and Zara are big fans of each other…?
turn74, meet Hatshepsut, who doesn't have quite as much +first impression with the other two, but they still like each other. I am glad they have positives with me, but if everyone else is more positive, it is like a negative
turn75, Great Wall finished somewhere. Also found coastal fish 3 tiles from any land… mapmaker? Finished warrior and started worker in Incensed!
turn77, finish Sailing, consider Masonry (Great Lighthouse) or Metal Casting (Colossus), but I need Calendar. Mathematics
turn78, found Athens, open borders with Egypt, all my cities now have foreign trade routes. Finish settler, start on work boat for that site
turn81, found EastPoint at the easternmost point, starts on lighthouse
turn82, SugarHigh finishes worker, some of the jungle has already been chopped, starts on granary
turn83, RiverPig finishes the workboat, starts on granary
there are two city sites left in my dotmap, and with foreign trade routes, even they should break even at population size 1. my soldiers count is very low, about half the rival best, but I think I can fill in my island and make a coordinated push before making up the difference. I am 0.8 power with Zara (I only put esp on one civ at a time, makes them less likely to up their slider and focus on me, and I think I am ok for right now
turn84, whip granary in RiverPig, next will be workboat for exploration (no barbs, no need to send a galley off so far)
turn86, whip lighthouse (next is settler) in Incensed!
turn87, finish Math start on Calendar (soonest I think I have ever self-teched it)
turn89, finish workboat and start on barracks (preparing for invasion of mainland) in RiverPig
turn93, the landmass feels very 'angular'… unnaturally so
turn95, Zara finished the Great Lighthouse. I wonder if he plans on giving it to me?
turn96, RiverPig finished barracks, starts on settler (should have reversed those). Barracks started in Incensed!
turn97, SouthShore founded, whip settler in RiverPig, library is next. Great Prophet in RiverPig, settle it
turn99, NorthShoreIron founded. finish Calendar!
Now that this goal is complete, I have to figure out… what's next? I do enjoy my foreign trade routes, but those won't win me the game. I don't have a lot of expansion possibilities right in front of me, I have no idea what this crazy map is supposed to be, I'm a little lost. But, I am likely the tech leader so an espionage economy seems out. My strange little island seems easy to defend, so domination looks like a possibility. everybody loves everyone else (so far), so religion/diplomatic could work. I don't know
for now, start on Currency, to take advantage of the trade routes
turn100, whip library in RiverPig, will start on warrior
turn101, I am #6 in most advanced?!? None of them have Alphabet. Oops. I went all the way around the first continent, surprised it was just those three. Now sending my workboats to the incense desert island by Athens, maybe a bridge there?
turn106, finish Currency, economy increases by 50% from just trade routes. Start on Alphabet, because I am puzzled how I am not leading
Zara looks to found Confucianism in 3 turns, the first religion in this part of the world. Probably in Aksum, which is looking like a better and better city to take, even though it would deprive me of 24 worth of trade routes/turn
turn108, someone just built Temple of Artemis
turn109, Confucianism was founded in the city south of Aksum, on the border of both the others (he only has 3 cities, the third is on the little island north).
turn110, just found Ghandi's land directly south of mine… this is odd. But also, Ghandi hasn't met Egypt or Ethiopia yet. He founded Buddhism
finished Alphabet. Some have Priesthood/Monotheism, but none Monarchy. None have Metal Casting or Compass. I am ahead technologically. I just didn't pick up the cheap religion techs.
I get Masonry and Hunting from Pericles for Writing
Just don't know what to do at this point, but I am pretty sure I have the most powerful economy in the game right now. Should probably find a way to get more cities. And right now, all the land is taken. So, I guess that means build swordsmen
start on Construction, for the Hwachas
turn115, just finished Construction, finishing Monotheism next turn, +118 beakers/turn, no idea what is going on in this game.
