Yes, at 1AD I lived to tell the tale. ;) I settled on the PH as I guess most will do. As I foresaw some possible idle time for the worker, I went first with a workboat as it could be spat out in 6 turns and then the worker. At least it also gave some extra commerce from early on which in isolation is pretty important I think. Techwise I went with mining, mysticism, masonry, BW, then AH. I built the Great Wall well on time, the barbs weren't very raging yet when it got erected. Then tried for Stonehenge which I got too.

Was careful about not expanding too fast as I didn't want to kill my research too fast. New York went west at the pigs/horse/flood plain site, which I'm thinking might be my future capital in the bureau age. City 3 to the east at the double sea food, city 4 north of NY at corn/pig. City 5 on the east coast to the north at corn/fish and city 6 SW on the west coast at another corn/pig site with lots of river. It took some careful manoeuvering to avoid barb spears, as I only had warriors and chariots available for escort work. Lost a couple of chariots in the process unfortunately.

Meanwhile I was able to get the GLH too, again, any commerce input was welcome under the isolated circumstances and eventually I should end up with mainly coastal cities. I chopped the Oracle in NY and took currency, wanted to be able to build wealth. I think that was around 500BC so quite late but maybe the AIs were too busy fending off barbs in the old world. After that went for monarchy for the happy cap. At least with charismatic and Stonehenge the happy wasn't all that bad early on but of course only plantation resources in the neighbourhood meant no other way to grow the cap. After that got CoL and founded confu, here I launched a first GA for the switch to HR + confu, temporarily going caste to hire some scientists. I started spotting barb galleys on the west coast so went with MC next and at 1AD busy on calendar which I should get in a couple of turns.

At 1AD IIRC still at just 6 cities but of decent size now, with 39 pop. Settler is on the way to found city 7 at the southern dyes and another settler is nearly done for city 8.

All in all I'm not unhappy with how it went, landing the 4 wonders I was aiming for and a decent state of tech for isolation (currency, CoL, MC, monarchy). After calendar will likely go optics directly, squeezing in IW but foregoing CS for the moment, want to get to know the old world as soon as possible.

I thought I'll try it without GW, as it is only monarch level, but then made the stupid mistake of not prioritizing Iron Works when I found no copper... So yeah, this did not end well. I gave up before 1AD.

Yea hi guys. I just send in the retired save. Ever thing vent decent for me with getting the wall up and stone henge and some fairly good rexxing. then after playing for an hour I forgott to save Iclosed the game on accident. I know that the map makers are always pretty leniant and let you play from the last auto save but it did throw me of enough. So i will just start again trying to play better. I liked the Setup but its going to be a long slog, which I like by the way if my haert is in it. thanks Staff

One of the GOTM a year ago or so, with Charly on raging barbs, I remember I chose not to build the GW. That ended up in building a truckload of axes to defend myself, not very efficient. So here first things first I put it up 2400BC even before the first settler, turning the barbs in aimless zombies.

The land does not look rich, sparse food/river/resources. So I settled some cottage grounds first at both pigs and also at some corns along with the seafood site.
For a long time no wonder finishes, then suddenly 1000BC GLH and a few turns later SH and Oracle. I had just finished PH, so didn't get to try anything. Well, it was on the way to monarchy anyhow. After this burst nothing else before 1AD.
Monarchy helped a lot with the happiness. The traits are also very helpful here boosting both happy and health.

Stats at 1AD: 8 cities, 61 pop, 70 beakers at break even. I just reached Calender a few turns earlier and that's it besides Monarchy.

The cottages and high pop finally appear to swing science up a bit. Next is CoL for Caste/GP and head for Optics/Astro. I may use the GSpy for a golden age to get there. I do not have a plan from there on, other than keep settling all the good sites on this continent. Currently the spy is scouting the last fogged corners.
I'm also trying to get a 10xp unit. My first attempt failed when I lost a 95% fight which would have gotten me a medic 2 chariot. So have to start all over pretty much.

I agreed with the pregame discussion about the need for the Great Wall, so after settling the PH I followed the plan DynamicSpirit described. Great Wall completed in 2480 BC. With the barb threat thus neutralized and knowing there were no AI neighbors to crowd me in, I decided to try for Stonehenge. That was completed in 2040 BC. With cultural expansion assured, I finally settled in New York in 1640 BC. Then, knowing that an isolated start would be bad for my commerce and science, I decided to try for the Pyramids so I could run Representation. I got that, too, in 575 BC.

By 1 AD, I've only got four cities, but I've founded Confucianism and built the Kong Miao, so religious expansion should also be no problem, as I make the New World my own.

Settled PH. I started from working boat, then worker. Technology order: wheel-pottery-mining-BW-mysticism-masonry. Founded New York (pig-flood plains) in 2480 bc, built Stonehenge in 2040 bc. On the 50th turn, crowds of barbarians appeared out of nowhere, include spears. My warrior with double forest on forest hill tried to hold spear, but was easily killed. Then I lost 2 warriors in the defense of New York, lost corn farm and built Great Wall in 1680 bc. Then i tried to build a Great Lighthouse, but AI did it in 1080 bc, and I got 144 coins (. in 700 bc I built Oracle and take CoL and confu.
At 1 AD 8 cities, 48 pop monarchy, org. religion and that all) 1 turn to mathematics.
