Gotta love a noble level game once in a while, this was a nice and relaxed one for me.

After getting an early Delhi in the first few turns, we proceeded to conquer our neighbours MM and Fred to get a decent land base to pursuit a space race victory, but Izzy took Fred as a peace vassal in the late game, thus forcing me to beat her down a bit before giving her a peace treaty.

But with a new BOTM available around the corner, I decided to take a shortcut and accepted Izzy as vassal, imagining I would get a Conquest win the following turn. Alas, I found out that was not the case, I would need to beat the Minor Civs as well. :hammer2: Then I teched towards Mass Media to get a Diplo victory instead, with the help of my newly acquired vassal votes, just taking care to avoid crossing the pop limit (at least I got this game mechanic right ).

If I find the time I might replay this nice gem of a map, but start sailing towards the baddies instead, just for the challenge and fun, their lands looked rich IIRC. Then would send a WB to meet the nice guys for the trade (routes, resources and tech). I would only need to be extra careful at the start, as I learned from some players' nasty experiences as reported in the 1st spoiler thread! ;)

Thanks for yet another nice game, @kcd_swede ! :hatsoff:

I suggest that as you sail toward the barb lands, you train an army of dolphins and arm them with narwhal tusks. You won't have time to build land units after you arrive. Good luck! :)

I definitely don't think I am good enough to take on the minor civs after a 7 turn delay or whatever it was to sail to land. However, with the benefit of map knowledge, I could see a way. There is a decent-sized island just SW of their continent that I settled in my completed game (around 1500 AD). If you start there, you get horses, and then a choice between another island or the southern mainland for Iron. Once that is secured, it's mostly a question of how quickly you can expand. You'd have to burn a lot cities I'm guessing. Otherwise, you'll never pull out of the economic death spiral.
