BOTM32 Starts 17 July

^Settling in place we can't buy levees, which may not be too far away in an advanced start games (unless going for a fast conquest?). S or SE looks ok by me.

Very good point. I hope to get this game started soon.

My game plan is to get to constitution asap to run Representation. So the hope is to get it from Liberalism. The tech path become Education with the aid of a GS, Nationalism with the aid of a GA and finally Liberalism. Next get a GM to tech Economics + free GM. Gunpowder via tech trade or learn. Switch to Nationalism and attack nearby AI’s. So for this to work well, I need about 6-8 cities each with 8 or more pop cities. Seems difficult but with many farms may be doable. If someone was as close to us as Izzy was in the last Renaissance game then, let there be maces, trebs and knights for a fast attack.

So where to settle? No clue except not in place. I will revolt on turn 0 and move one settler north and the other south after all other units move radialy out. Civics will be HR, Bureaucracy, Merc, CS and Pacifism. Since second city will get the religion first. It will generate a GScientist while the capital will generate a GArtist. After that, I intend to bulb toward Biology and decide if I want to go to space or culture or diplomatic. Either case Oromo warriors will play a significant role with knights and trebs in this game.

OK I should play while I can still remember what I want to do.

Is this even doable to get Constitution from Lib at this kind of start?

No rush to Oxford or Liber?

No, there is so much else to build first. An initial priority in the capital is a bank. The 50% extra cash will easily compensate for some delay in getting universities.

Liberalism is not very interesting unless you have a good tech lead. Here, it will instead provide the AI with two techs that we can hope to trade for. The AI will fall behind soon enough.

Good point about bank, but if you keep science/cash spending of commerce at 2/1 ratio, the effect of library is the same as of bank, plus you can hire specialists with early pacifism (unlike bank). So building more expensive bank first is valid if you plan to expand rapidly (science rate below 50%) and move science with caste specialists/hammers while covering the costs with commerce cash. Still, you can maintain this in future without hoarding gold only by continuing the expansion, which can be limited.

I usually find myself expanding on the planet right until the building of my spaceship. :)

The libraries will arrive in time. I don't plan to do any research before then. A multitude of specialists won't pay off until we have grown to about full size and will start the first Golden Age; running two scientists should give a decent chance on an academy already well before.

After Replaceable Parts, the next target will probably be either Steam Power, if we find more rivers, or Democracy, for the statue.

I tested this and was only successful about 3 out of 5 tries. I have to wait and see once the game start and I find 3 gold/gem tile for the second city to be located at:D. I will decide after I see what is around but very likely I will give it a go. Oh yeah, the times I lost, I did not build any cottages, only ran specialists and the times I won, I delayed Education.
