So ok, internally we started already brainstorming for "InvisibilityTypes". :)
(@ConjurerDragon Sorry that I still call the feature that way - but it makes things clearer for us.)

Things that would be possible:
(Once we succeed teaching it to AI.)
  • Reactivating "Camouflage" of Rangers to be hidden in Forests (but Native Mercenaries and others being able to spot them)
  • Storms completely hiding all Ships - but also taking away their sight completely
  • Fog - on Terrains with no other Features - completely hiding all "Land Units on Foot" - but also taking away their sight completely
  • Thieves and Spies - being able to sneak into enemy towns (but Town Guards having a change to catch them)
  • ...
All that is needed is a capable modder having time to implement it.
So if one of you guys is interested, let us know.

Have fun brainstorming. :mischief:

I like the idea for rangers and native mercs. Natives should be able to get some units with that ability too though, as historically they made some very successful ambushes vs traditional armies.

Fog seems overkill

Fog usually is a local appearance and usually stronger near bodies of water or rivers. It could cover foot units from each other - but depending on type of fog mounted units too or even ships
Spoiler :

But having a square or more of the map ingame covered by fog, an area the size of an US state depending on map size would be too much.
Spoiler :

Then we could as well make a square being covered in fog/smoke/smog and units unable to see each other after two salvos of fire using muskets and rifles.
