Everyone loves dinosaurs so why not bring back these critters just as we had them in Civ 3? And preferably not in one scenerio - make them available as a regular civ :)

Jurassic Park 4 anyone

In which particular part of the 4000 BC - AD 2050 time scale do dinosaurs fit?

Same place as Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf fit in ;)

In the past few Civ releases, they have included fantasy or science fiction scenerios which the community could then build on. I just wanted them to continue this theme and include an updated Dinosaur civ.

I did not know that the dinosaurs where civilised.;)

Only as a scenerio not as a regular civ please

I'm pretty sure that's what the OP had in mind. I actually like the idea as a mod or scenario. It obviously would be a very poor concept in the regular game. Maybe taking the ice age mod a little further.

It's actually interesting to consider what sort of scenarios/mods they would have. Besides, CivFanatics has a lot of dedicated modders who will probably come up with some interesting ones.

No, actually, they are supposed to fit in, but earlier than 4000BC by the timelines I think. We'd be in like the 6th or 7th age now.

I take this to mean not a scenerio but in the regular game:)

Anyone for Terminator Civ in a scenerio verses the Hobits;)
Or would that be too cruel

Well, yeah, sure, as a mod or scenario that might have a place, but not as part of the standard game as you suggested.

We could have a civ with giant war robots for Camikaze;);)
I could have a civ with lots of supply depot units;);)
Eartling the hobits
Awesome the terminators
and Dionysis gets the dinosaurs

the earth is about 4500000000 years old
The universe is about 13500000000 years old
Jericho is about 11000 years old

I do not recall reading anywhere that Jericho wes attacked by dinosaurs;);)
I have seen wolves and bears in the zoo but I have only seen dinosaurs in a museum.

And your civ would be:)

Of course there was no word about Jericho. The time when that happened was before writing.:)

The civs we can handle. Australiopithecus, Cro-Magnon, Neanderthal, Homo Erectus, etc. It's the leaders I'm worried about.:)

It sounds like a good diversion from standard Civ. I admit the realism is a bit suspect. It could be done on an earth map as it was 100 million years ago. I'm getting tired of always seeing India bumped up against Asia anyway.

@Silurian@
You sure about that? Your guesses are way off. I am also happy for the lucky people of Jericho, escaping the horrors of a dinosaur attack. As i am happy for you, never being attacked by a bear. That must prove that bears currently dont exist. Which zoo has living bears same age as dinosaurs? Surely you can name some. giving your words at least some credibility.

Cave paintings go back about 32000 years.
They show various animals but no dionsaurs.
Since dinosaur would have been trying to eat the humans I would have thought they would have painted them.

My wife saw a bear in the woods a few years ago.
And as I said I have seen bears in the Zoo.

All bears are the same age as dinosaurs when they are born.

Pyongyang Central Zoo has bears but it is not a very good zoo.

Ataxerxes@
Raquel Welch would be leader of the Homo Erectus.
I am still thinking about the others.

You live in Pyongyang?

As for the time scale of the game as compared to Earth; you know, I don't quite think they're meant to be one in the same. ;)

Pyongyang is a strange place and a bit cold at the moment

Well dinosaurs existed in 4000bc, at least to about 30AD, cause there is photographic evidence of Jesus riding a Velociraptor

LiDDis@
Please post photographic evidence of Jesus riding a Velociraptor

I think setting it 100m BCE as sugggested by Ataxerxes is better

Horror ! What idiocies :D

All people know that dinosaur has disappeared 65,000,000 years before...
