BTS crashing to desktop

I had been playing BTS (3.19) on my IBM Thinkpad T60. It was recently hit with a virus and I had to do a system restore. Since this restore BTS would crash mid game (even after multiple reinstalls) with Runtime error messages such as:

”\main\civ4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\CoreLibs\NiDX9 Renderer\NiDX9SourceTexture Data.cpp, Line:321”

My system scans clean, I updated my Direct X and have also uninstalled and reinstalled my video driver but the problem persisted.

I now have CIV Complete (and updated through the in game installer to 3.19) and it is crashing to my desktop mid game without any error message.

Any ideas?

if its crashing to desktop there should be an error message, did you check the windows event viewer?

Prior to submitting this question the Game crashed to desktop without any error message shown, I just now checked the window event viewer and could not find an error message for that date.

Last night I tried running a game and it crashed again with a run time error but I did not get the specifics.

I will try again tonight and capture any error messages in the window event viewer.

I am now consistently getting the "Failed to Allocate Video Memory. Please try reducing your graphic settings" error message. It switches between the one referenced in my first post and one that ends with ....Nibx9VBManager.cpp, Line 1019.

Even with:
screen resolution 1024x768
Anti-Aliasing 0
Graphics Level Low

I check the windows event viewer and no errors under system but under applications I have multitple symantec Antivirus errors referencing a suspended thread being blocked (even with symantec auto-protect disabled).

Does this help?

is the graphics driver you use the most recent one?
try disabling the antivir program (while not connected to the internet ) and see if that helps (I doubt it - the vram error points to the graphics driver).

According to the lenovo(ibm) support site the driver is the most recent, I downloaded it from there.

I disabled the antivirus and tried again but it still crashes with the same messages. Very frustrating!

I may try to unistall and reistall the driver again but am not very hopefull. Thanks for the help and please let me know if there is anything else you can think of.

Game is Prince level, huge map, mod 2.1 with varietas delecta changed from 8.0 to 7.5 ver (as suggested by Lemon Merchant) I been here before -- since installed new mobo, chip and faster RAM) Drivers, Directx WinXP SP2 all updated and current.

Last night did occassionally have red blotches of some parts of game map but not many and not always.

Last crash history (old computer system - minimum rec specs) was file size 721KB
but running mod 2.1 VD 8.0

Event viewer, dr watson report (SHOWS FAULT) system profile and the offending game file attached

All background processes turned off before loading game (using Obit Game Booster to improve performance -- LOL) edit have kept them on but doesn't change anything

Please help: looks like $200 spent on new system didn't help. Using intergrated graphics on new mobo -- Do I need a separate video card? and if yes what do you recommend (money is tight) Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem as CMP. After playing the regular Civ4 for a long time (with no problems), I uninstalled it about a year ago. Recently I purchased the WL and BTS expansions, and installed all 3 version on that same "old" computer, including the latest patches.
Civ4 seems to run fine, but BTS will crash to the desktop with that same error message that CMP already posted. Already tried to play with scaled down graphic settings and reduced map size, but eventually after a while, it will crash.

Looking thru error logs for my game to see why it crashes

Python Dbg log says
CvAltRoot import failed

Python Err says
ERR: call function get Modpath failed can't find module Full of Resources.py

Could this have anything to do with my game crashes
