[BTS] New game?

Okay, will do it in evening.
As for holidays - I will have holidays on 1st-14th of November.
I will make *some* turns, but they will be irregular. After that, back to normal schedule.

Hey Ben09, for most of us it is first MP game, so you are in good company.

We are rolling again, YAY! :p

I have been playing MP since vanilla was released, but this is my first PBEM.Which i would think is rather different than GS lobby games, without the simultaneous turns and turn timer, alot of MP tricks won't work here.

hehe what did you pay him/her with? slaughter a sheep? money? your charm? or your balls?

and on it goes.

I'm not all that great at multi-player, either. First PBEM I had, i built ToA... then later, I built Chichen Itza, maybe 10 turns before I got rifling....

ToA is a pretty good wonder!

Sent on anyway

ToA - a free specialist is always nice. Open borders for increased trade is good too

true. I mean, it's useful, and i had marble and was industrious...

course, I then left it guarded with one warrior and one of my opponent burned the city with a galleon filled with maces...

My take on first settler, when you have scouted your vicinity, found a good spot and have ample protection for your settler (which means something like a warrior for animals, perhaps archer for barbarians and god knows what if you have a neighbouring human).

EDIT: The warrior should be sent in advance so that he fogbusts the area you intend to settle. Sending warrior+settler into the fog is not a good idea IMO. Bears can be brutal depending on season.

Yes, as reload is not possible it is good idea to have extra protection before making settler.
Can be real pain to lose it. No neighbours so far, even with continents map.

Fortunately, settlers can run from bears!

I'd venture that most people kick out a worker and at least one military first, in some order. You probably wont' settle the city far enough away for the settler to be to vulnerable to animals - you can run from bears, of course. And you can get right next to an animal and settle, and it'll just go away.

knowing where copper or horses is is pretty important, too, so waiting until you have AH or BW is reasonable.

It's worth building a warrior before a worker in MP. You don't want to be eliminated really early on by a wandering warrior exploring.

Yes, and it's good idea probably to keep even 2 warriors in city.
Because nothing is so annoying as enemy warrior with 1-2% chance winning.

Turn given to scout and delivered on.
