BTS won't install

Recently, my computer crashed and I had to do a complete reinstall and replace the hard drive (yes, it sucked). Anyway, trying to reload my civ files. Vanilla and Warlords: no problem. BTS, though, I'm having issues. Downloaded BTS from Direct2Drive, no problem. Went to unzip file with Winzip and I get error messages during unzip; I continue past them. When it comes time to run/load/whatever, I get a failure due to Error Code 5006; this is then emailed to Firaxis. How do I fix this and get this beast running? And considering how buggy this game is, do I even want to? This is the initial unpatched version of BTS that I purchased back in July (as an aside, I could never got the thing to load then, so I just ignored it and kept playing Warlords; which may just be my best option).

BTW: My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium. Also, I don't know a damn thing about computers (I think elves might live in the box), so please address all instructions to a level suitable to communicating with a clever 5 year old. Thanks.

Firaxis (and Take 2) are not directly responsible for the digital versions of BtS - you should send the same question to D2D directly - especially since the download seems to have had a problem (with the error in the unzipping) - in general:
BtS tries to patch Vanilla to 1.74 and Warlords to 2.13 - both patches seem to have trouble if the games are not patched to 1.61 and 2.08 beforehand - so you should (if you have not done it already) patch first to 1.61 and 2.08 and the nto 1.74 and 2.13 and then install BtS.
You can find all those patches for the cd/dvd version linked from thhe main page of this site - just click und patches/updates under civilization 4 on the left hand panel of the main site.

I have a service ticket with D2D (will I ever hear from them? Now that's the question). Patching doesn't seem to be the issue. I purchased all these games (vanilla, warlords, bts) last summer, and I remember that BTS patched the vanilla and warlords then. Thus, the versions I have on my computer now should be unpatched and ready to go with BTS.

It sounds like a bad download to me.. have you tried downloading again? also turn any anti-virus program running while downloading/installing.

Yeah, I downloaded and deleted a couple of times with the same result; I'm thinking I just bought a corrupted download.
