My Civ 4 BTS won't start, but my vanilla and Warlords work just fine. I'm running Win 8, and have no idea what's wrong. Compatibility mode doesn't fix it. It doesn't give any error messages, and nothing at all loads. Does anyone have the same problem/has a solution? Thanks in advance.

Try installing as per my Windows 7 thread.

Thank you very much. It seems to be working now. However when I launched Civ 4 it told me, after loading the game, that my machine was below recommended specifications and I may experience performance issues. This is obvious nonsense. This is a new laptop, less then 6 months old. I'll post if there are any other issues. In the meantime, what does that message mean?

That is a common warning that happens with processors of far greater specs than were available when the game was made. You can either just ignore it or change the ini file to stop it happening.
Look for the following in the CivilizationIV.ini file:

; Don't show minimum specification warnings
HideMinSpecWarning = 0

and change it from 0 to 1.

It won't have any adverse effect on gameplay?
