I have added the latest version of the BUFFY mod to the Resource database in case anyone needs to download it, especially since the HOF site is temporarly down with no ETA.

Thanks a lot, I'm doing a reinstall for a friend, and this was indeed needed.
Finally found Map Finder at https://civ4-map-finder.software.informer.com/
I was having issues with buffy permissions with Steam on Win11, but resolved them by choosing the beta on steam :)

Hi @lymond , not sure if this is the right thread to ask about this, but the HOF bug has been increasingly bothering me lately, because it has been making the whole program crash (before it was just a matter of clicking 'ok' and it was fine). I remember your saying at some point that some kind of code is needed to fix it? I'm not using the latest version of BUFFY btw (I have some games in progress so would rather not update now). Could you help me with that? That would be great :)

uncheck read onjy on the bts folder in my docs and choose all sub folders

I tried to uncheck read only on both BTS folders in my docs and in the game, but still after clicking load mod - buffy 3.19.005, it shows the same error message as jorissimo.

I wrote that i need help with Buffy mod and user by the name of "a pen-dragon" is trying to help me fix the problems, but so far unsuccessfuly.
  1. I dont see number of cities each civilization has
  2. i dont see how many hammers i will gain from whips
  3. in military advisor there is no second section that shows threat level and likelyhood that other civs might attack me
  4. there is no button on top left as pen-dragon mentioned he has that enters the BUG settings
  5. there is not icon that shows to whom i am the worst enemy
  6. and alt+x doesnt put city layout for planning.
I am sometimes wondering if mod is loaded at all. It does show me combat odds, but not as well as i remember when i played the game last time, it does show turns to great person, in which city it will be, but it doesnt split in parts - likelyhood to get great merchant or great scientist for example. Could be that base game does it, i dont remember anymore.

What makes me think that mod IS loaded in fact, is that when i start a new game, the message on the bottom side is blinking "click ctrl+alt+o to enter BUG settings."

Seally ..we need more info about your device and where you get the game?

Well its Windows 10, pc, is there any other devices that can run civ 4? Maybe linux or mac i assume, but linux and mac doesnt run many games. And what is the difference where i got it? I dont remember anymore, its been very long time.

EDIT:
It was the version problem. My game was on 3.0.3.1 version, but it needed 3.1.9 i think. After i installed the patch it works now. However it shows some TXT_GAME_OPTION letters instead of correct messages in options and some places else. I might have installed patch somehow wrongly.

It's a huge difference. Most of players use a digital version of the game like through Steam or GoG, and those can come with their own considerations. The digital versions are usually Civ IV Complete and come fully patched. Sounds like you are using disks. With disks, the game can have issues running on new versions of Windows, though BTS should not be too much of a problem. And with the disk version, you need to patch vanilla, warlords, and BTS, and patch them in a certain order. There is a thread in tech support on installing patches. (Keep in mind that civ iv disks have not be made for at least 15 years or more at this point)

I do recommend run the BTS exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and check 'run as administrator regardless of where you get the game..

Oh geezus, and i just installed one patch for BtS only. I dont think i can uninstall it anymore, can i? Maybe ill have to play with TXT_OPTIONS, its not that bad cos i already know what thing does what 99% of times, its just not that pretty. And its not on everything, like each 20th option or tooltip only.

So you are using disks? You have still not answered that question
