Hi,

I've recently installed the BUG Mod which is really great, but i played a large map game yesterday and after a while it started lagging when i moved the camera.
I used to play 1680*1050 4AA with a radeon 4850 and an core2duo 3gh it never lagged.
I downgraded to 1680*1050 without AA and it's much better still not as "fast" as without the BUG Mod.
I can understand the BUG Mod adds a lot of info and through graphics/scripts(?)/etc. but the drop in performance is huge...

Anyone experienced the same drop in performance ?

Another question, i played with friends through "Ip direct connexion" with one of them without the BUG Mod and he was unabled to join the game, after he installed the BUG Mod the game worked. Is that normal ?

Thanks

I'm playing CIV4 (french) BTS 3.19 BUG Mod 4.0

Rekom,
Are you running BUG 3.6 or BUG 4.0? First thing I would suggest is disabling the Plot List Enhancements in the Options Screen (Alt + Ctrl + O). Anti-Aliasing (4AA) just smooths out jagged edges. You may want to reduce your graphics option from High to Medium or even Low, as this will probably speed things up a bit.

Civ4 is designed so when you play a MP game, EVERYONE must have the same resources. There are 2 options around this... the first you already did, by having your friend download and install The BUG Mod. The other option is to not install BUG as a CustomAssets, but instead install it as a Mod, and pick it to run BUG Mod when Civ4 loads. This will allow you to unload The BUG Mod before you play a MP game. When you restart, everything will be BTS vanilla, so you can play MP games without conflicts with anyone.

One last thing... how are the french translations in the game? That is one of the two languages we don't have awesome translation support for.

If the game starts to lag as in it's jittery when you move the camera, that usually indicates that you are getting Python errors inside some code that runs a lot (like the scoreboard or update event). Once that happens again, could you please post your PythonErr.log and PythonDbg.log files located in the Logs folder of you My Games / BTS folder?

BUG adds new features, but none of them should be that intensive while panning around the camera. The extra icons and adornments on the unit icons in the plot list (the grid of icons in the bottom-center of the screen when you have a large stack selected) do indeed slow down unit selection. We are working on a fix for this, but it's really just a matter of Civ's draw routines being somewhat slow when overlapping a bunch of images. That doesn't affect camera panning, however.

Actually, even in 1920*1200 everything maxed out and 4XAA on a huge map with civ4 BTS vanilla doesn't lag. (Well Civ4's an "old game" and a ATI HD4850 is a decent med level CG.).
I removed AA and and it's now better

Well, everything is not translated and there's a few mistakes. I'll write them down and give a feedback
