I had uninstalled civ 3 a few months back, I'm trying to put it back into my computer, windows xp. Civ 3 will install, ok(I think) I can run it, but if I put the cd into the computer, the spash screen doesn't show the play option only install, if I click install it will uninstall civ 3. Then if I try to install conquest it says I need to install civ 3 before I can install conquest. Any one have any ideas?

Go here and follow the directions for manually uninstalling. Then reinstall. Perhaps your previous uninstall didn't completely wipe everything out.

Also, can you run it from a desktop icon or shortcut? My disc usually stays in the drive, so I don't often run it from the autorun options.

my main issue is, it will not let me install conquest, when I run the auto run or even click on setup it will give me the error saying I need to install civ 3 first. I ran though your sugestion about clearing out the registry, I removed the folders and looked for anything that said civ 3 and deleated it. I found that the patches had put regestry enterys in too. so I ended up deleating 3 or 4 files. after clearing it out, I installed civ 3 again fresh and tryed to install conquest and I get the same error.

Can you play Civ3? I realize you're trying to install Conquests.

Also, is this Complete, or did you get Civ3 and Conquests seperately?

I can play civ 3, I just hit on what the problem is, useing xp I had installed Civ 3 and conquest on another user account, so I need to remove it from the other user account before being able to reinstall it on the main account. Yes I had bought civ 3 and conquest at diffent times.

Yeah, it's important that you install it from the same account. That account (as I'm sure you know) needs admin rights in order to install it.

Glad it worked out for you.
