a lot of time when I'm building a wonder it will stop in the middle and say I cannot support this. I can either switch to making a new facility such as a library or lesser wonder or zoom to the city. How can this be avoided?

Make sure that you have enough cash in the treasury while you are building the wonder. Keep an eye on the increase/decrease in gold, and change your science rate accordingly.

What's happening is that some other civ has beaten you to the punch and completed the Wonder ahead of you. Since there can only be one of each, once someone builds it you have to switch production to something else. It has nothing to do with your treasury, Wonders have no maintenance costs.

But than it wouldnt say something like "cannot support this". It just gives you a suggestion to what the production can be changed.

I didnt ever see "cannot support this" info but it should be something about treasury.:crazyeyes

Either the Wonder in progress has been completed by another civ as WIllem pointed out, or perhaps Guid is referring to the window that tells you the city needs an aquaduct or hospital to continue growing. The game has a habit of reminding me of that the very turn before a Wonder is finished :). But, that window doesn't have the option of zooming in on the city - which I would find helpful at times.
