I've had this game installed for almost a week. I had no problems at all and even had a cultural win with England.

However, two nights ago I was playing a game with mali and produced my first worker. I told him to create a road and the game crashed and quit to desktop. I reopened from the autosave and the same thing happened again.

Today, I played again with no problems, this time a new game as Spain. I built roads without a glitch and then quit for a while. I did some things, and then later decided to log a few more turns. The worker was mid-road production. After he finished I had him create a road and the game quit out again.

Is anyone else having this crash or has any ideas what it could possibly be from? I am trying to troubleshoot it. I don't have many ideas. I think it may only crash if I quit the game and then come to it later meaning a reset would prevent it -- going to test that one here now.

Crashed a second time, but I think my original analysis was off. I know the first time it crashed it was from building a road on a forest (this was Sunday). Today it crashed when I built a road on top of a stone that already had a quarry. I loaded the game and built the road before the quarry and no crash occured. Later I built a road and then went to build a Pasture on a cow tile and the game crashed in the same manner as before.

My workers have gone on strike!

I don't think it's the roads, honestly. There's numerous reports of crashes upon reloading a previously saved game. It's happening to me. Loading an earlier save, then immediately loading the most recent save helps a bit, but ultimately, it will crash again.

Call to Take 2 (Take two times to get it right? Take two times to find the problem?) first told me to uncheck everything in my startup folder for MSCONFIG. I did this, tried again, got a crash 35 mins later.

Yippie Skippy.

You're not alone.

And --regarding your signature line-- a fiction writer is to not be playing Civ, they're to be hounding the publisher to get the book out on time and red-penning out those unaccceptable clauses in their contracts when they're not pacing circles around the mailbox.

Or at least, that's what SOME of us do. Heh.

Later!
