Iv been playing the game for a while now, and out of the nowhere the game began to crash. I’ll play the game up to a point and it will crash. When I try to load the last saved game it will crash 20 – 30 % into the load, but I’m able to load a few saves back. When It gets to the point where it crashed last, It crashes again.

I ran drwtsn32 to try to debug the problem and it told me it crashed due to: “Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)”
If any body had this problem and fixed please post how?

I get this problem sometimes, if I don't deactivate my antivirus. I think it's a problem with two programs (in this case apparently Civ3 and my antivirus) trying to write to the same part of the computer's memory. At least, once I do deactivate my antivirus, it works without problems, but it could in theory be any other program on your computer which causes the error.

Check the list of active processes in the Dr Watson log, if you're in doubt about which programs are running.
