C3C PBEM – Simplistic WWII Europe

This was a very bloody turn for the Third Reich.

OKW and OKH decided to go for a surprise assault directly on Paris, bypassing both Brussels and Strassbourg hoping that the french had neglected the defense of their capital and moved most of their forces to the front cities.
Sadly we were wrong and the assault became a bloodbath.....
Congratulations to Spartaca for foreseeing this move and putting up excellent defense!

Paris

Panzergruppe von Kleist kills regular inf and is 3/8
Panzergruppe Guderian kills regular inf and is 4/6
Vet panzer kills conscript inf
Vet panzer kills conscript inf
Reg panzer killed by conscript inf who promotes. I didnt make a dent!
Same french inf kills another attacking panzer
A third panzer killed by french conscript inf

Guderian kills conscript inf
A fourth panzer killed by a freakin conscript inf who promotes.
Von Kleist kills a wounded regular inf.

losses: 2 severly wounded panzer armies and 4 dead panzers
5 dead french inf of wich most were conscripts.

Marseilles

Air photos showed that large reinforcements are on their way to the city. Therefore OKW and OKH ordered an all out assault on the city, aiming to capture the city before the reinforcements arrive.
The assault was a disaster.

Italian navy and 5-6 batteries of german artillery bombarded city with only minor result.

Panzer killed by regular inf
Panzer killed by regular inf:mad:
Panzer kills regular inf
Ger infantry kills fr riflemen
Ger infantry killed by fr conscript inf
Ger inf kills fr inf
Panzer killed by conscript inf:mad:
Ger inf kills french inf
Ger inf killed by fr inf
Ger inf kills fr inf
Ger inf kills fr inf
Ger inf kills conscript riflemen (city is close to falling at this point)
panzer with 2 hp left killed by conscript riflemen without making a freaking dent!!!
Ger inf with 2 hp attacks conscript riflemen. Riflemen win without getting any dmg and promotes!
Ger inf with 2 hp attacks regulart riflemen. Riflemen win without getting any dmg and promotes to veteran.

No more units to attack with. City still french with 1 defender or close to 1 defender.

losses: 4 panzers and 4 regular infantry.

5 dead french inf (conscripts&regulars) and 2 french riflemen

A good trade for the allies.....

Baltic

Tirpitz sinks polish destroyer. (that was for bombarding our roads!)
Ger destroyer sinks damaged polish destroyer

Atlantic

British destroyer sunk by sub west of Cork

Denmark

Luftwaffe bombed Copenhagen, killing citizens and destroying walls

Conclusion

It really feels like this is going in the favor for the allies. It hurts alot not being able to draft infantry from the beginning. It´s a huge advantage for the french being able to draft inf while Germany can only draft riflemen.
Also Germany is not able to hurry production with cash eventhough the pedia says that under fascism you should be able to

Hey Drendor

Thanks for promoting my riflemen and infantry!

With regards to your conclusion, you just need to find some rubber to make conscript infantrymen.

Yes I have been working on that since turn 0.

But getting that town in Yugoslavia took a couple of turns, plus it will take a couple of more turns to connect it as well.

That means not building infantry or tanks for 5-6 turns.

You are right, not giving rubber to Germany from turn0 was a mistake!

I thought that Germany starting without rubber would be a minor issue as it could get from Yoguslavia soon but I forgot that human players tend to destroy roads to important resources and I also forgot the whole 'drafting' possibility... :wallbash:

But see it this way - if you win despite all this... you are truly a great player!!!
(not enough to walk my way out of it, is it?)

Turn 3, 1942 > This was a week with a bittersweet taste!

France:
We landed our troops on mainland Europe to help our ally. They went forward and into battle immediately!
First artillery bombarded the Axis' armies outside Paris, damaging it severely.
Then the (rookie) marines went in:
Lost reg. marine vs. elite panzer.
Lost reg. marine vs. Guderian, promoting it.
Lost reg. marine vs. Hoth, leaving 4 hp.
Lost reg. marine vs. vet. panzer, promoting it.
Lost reg. marine vs. just promoted panzer.
Lost reg. infantry vs. Guderian, promoting it.
Lost reg. infantry vs. Hoth, leaving 1 hp!
Reg. infantry vs. reg. panzer, destroying it.
Reg. infantry vs. elite (3 hp) panzer, destroying it, promoting my infantry.
Lost reg. infantry vs. Guderian.
Conclusion here: lost 8 units, destroyed 2, and severely damaged the remaining troops/armies. Hopefully the French can take a bit of them!

Atlantic:
Lost 1 sub and 1 destroyer vs. lonely sub, but sunk it after those losses.
Sunk a sub (?) W of Brest.
Bombarded coast N of Hamburg, destroying improvements.

Mediterrean:
Bombarded coast S of Palermo & city itself, destroying the coast and the coastal fortress in Palermo.

Sent save to Spartaca of France.

some rough battle there.

Question: How could you attack my troops? Did you land LAST turn and I didnt see your troops or do you own a port in France?

GPS to Russia

The French woke up to find a badly mauled German attack force outside Paris. Apparently the tank corps had run out of petrol and were unable to retreat.

There were 3 panzer armies with 3, 2 and 1 hitpoints.
There were 2 panzers with 2 and 1 hitpoints.

You have probably noticed I am talking in the past tense.

2 French artillery units softened them up even more. A french tank army destroyed 2 panzer armies and was reduced to 3 hitpoints. Another French tank army destroyed the other 3 units losing only one hitpoint and getting a one hitpoint upgrade.

A destroyer destroyed a road next to Hamburg.

Fresh troops also arrived in Marseilles to relieve the city.

Given the overwhelming defeat of the Germans in the battle for Paris, we call on Germany to end this senseless war. There is still a chance for peace in our time.

Redman had a stack of troops in France last turn and he also has a port.

I will continue to play my turns out of politeness but I dont think that axis have any chance of winning from here.

Good strategy from the allies:goodjob: plus I completely missjudged the strength of the french/british army.

:woohoo:
The good will always win from the bad!
:woohoo:

And Spartaca said it well: I'd landed a stack the turn before this one. This operation was made in complete darkness and they had to be silent, until they could come into action. And with success!
Further acquired a harbor so we can land troops easily to stop the war in Europe.

This may be the shorter PBEM ever. And not because of drop outs but because of other reasons.

If you really think that Germany has no chance of winning you can surrender, no need to keep the game alive just for the sake of it.

Congratulations to the Allies. A good strategy with excellent results! :goodjob:

However, I do think that the setup wasn't tottally fair. My fault!

GPS to Germany so they can review the situation.

No action by Poland.

I suggest as well that we sit down and negotiate a peaceful settlement to this war.

I generally dont give up that easy in wargames but I think the axis are lost here.

I have lost half (or more) of the axis land forces and have not come even close to force a surrender of mainland France.

Even if I managed to conquer France in (20-40????) turns Russia who starts with 95 regular infantry would eat me alive afterwards.

Once again; well played by the Allies!

I´m open to playing the scenario again......

Maybe the circumstantes weren't that good for the Axis in this game. Not having rubber for more than 5 turns, so no warproduction isn't historically accurate. Even for this simple version.

And I wouldn't mind playing again. Britain again and second Soviet Union.

Redman

But totally destroy the Axis after this major blow is also nice  ;) :p

If we started another game I´d like to try Germany again but I could settle with almost any of the major powers.

The thing might be that Downloads in Passky's scenarios aren't always linear and easy.

I have downloaded and tried that mod. The sweet thing about it is that there are many diffrent units and still the loading time is manageable even on my weak computer (pIII 600 mhz).

I played Germany against the AI and it was quite fun. I conquered France and invaded Britain. Abandoned the game once I conquered London. The biq was quite easy. Espeacially the german navy was ahistorically strong from the beginning starting with two advanced battleships and one modern battlecruiser.

I havent examined the MP biq that much but it would be very fun to play this scenario against human players
