The vandals are taking to writing graffiti on the one monolith we're able to capture but it appears others are hunkering down to claim it too ... an unease is spreading throughout the land as preparations for war now begin in earnest.
It seems the Visigoths have taken to cutting the old Roman roads. Maybe they want our troops to head due south? I sure they could find suitable land there.
The Visigoth warrior misread his orders but with hindsight slowing the southward migration doesn't seem a bad idea. Only Athens & a northern Adriatic town remain of Eastern Rome in Europe so there seems little good for the Visigoths in having large armies in the area.
Celtic horsemen attack the Byzantine city of Salonae, kill the defenders, capture the city, loot it and burn it to the ground. The horsemen will now rest and heal their wounds and then head for the only Byzantine city they can reach without galleys. We are sending out 3 galleys but it is a long trip.
