C3C PBEM : "Junot" - Napoleonic scenario-based PBEM

Spain threatened France. I don't how it happened as last turn we well in MPP and ROP but anyway they did so. Since they had already been at war with us and could not let them help the evil British we declared war. Two armies heading for Portugal were near Pampelona and Saragossa while our cavalry could reach Barcelona. The 3 cities are now liberated ! That will teach them I hope ... but gives more time to England.

Small landing at Cork.
Usual skirmishes around Amsterdam.

Hey guys, just to let you know I will be away until Sunday eve. Sadly I haven't got Mar 04 to play before I leave :/
This game is a bit too slow :mischief:

I'm back from Sunday eve but still no news from Lietkynes.

back from illness
game sent

killed 1 French unit near Amsterdam and wounded the others
the Irish are assembling troops to kick the invaders out of the country

A small victory for the Royal Navy near the shores of Ireland, where 2 French frigates were captured with no losses on our side. If only our soldiers were as good as our vessels.

2 French conscript units were vanquished in retaliation for the abduction of English good workers in southern England. Now we're even.

Spain is becoming really annoying, Portugal is resisting just fine.

French troops are taking a momentary pause in the siege of Amsterdam, the people appreciate it and celebrate smoking some... err.. cigarettes.

People in Cork have noticed there are French troops outside their door, altough they don't dare to leave the hills.

Hey, mr Bonaparte, where do all those units that you've got come from ? I hope you're not leaving your own cities unprotected :mischief:

Completely unprotected ! ;)

A small (but major for us) naval battle saw the sinking of 4 MoW. I am pretty sure the English fleet in harbor will chastise us (and maybe create some more MoW :( ).

We did clear the sea, indeed. But no new MoW.

The Ottoman ambassador in Paris demands an immediate cease fire from France toward Spain and consequent restitution of the invaded provinces. This act of aggression from France is definitely not approved by the Emperor, since Ottomans signed a peace treaty with Spain under request of France, because "They wouldn't want to be forced to war with their friends the Spanish because of the Mutual Protection Pact with Ottomans". Now after a few months France launched a blitz attack on Spain ?
Messages are also dispatched to the Embassies of Austria, England and Russia to inform them of the situation.

My "attack" of Spain was not planned at all. They were my allies against the English and I had troops there going to help them in Portugal. As stated previously they threatened France by making some heavy demands. Since they had already sided with England in the past and could easily do some damage to us we went for a preemptive strike against what seemed a likely change of alliance.
France is all in favor of renewed peace with Spain.... provided Spain agrees to negociations which it refuses ! On the other hand we have not moved at all against other Spanish cities and forces, except when they came in direct contact of our new cities. We have enough forces there that we could have conquered at least three more cities in the last 2 turns but we did not move. Isn't that proof enough of our "respect".
As for giving back the 3 cities captured, France is against that because we did not want this war in the first place and they cost us many lifes. We could agree to giving them back one city though if this can please the international scene.

We already know what are the reasons given by France for the attack toward Spain. But how do they say in England about these matters ? "Fishy" ?

Fact is, it was France to attack Spain and not the contrary. If Spain really threatened France even if clearly not in a position to do so, it would have been quite easier and less costly to just defend the borders to see if really Spain would have attacked (which we doubt).

It is the Emperor's suspect, instead, that France thought it easier to conquer Portugal if holding northern Spain... but this aggressive and expansionist stance form France has now become intolerable to the Emperor, and He asks one last time a cease fire from France and restitution of all conquered provinces as soon as Spain will be able to forgive this horrible sneak attack from France.

I had no troops on the frontier to protect them as they were in lines heading for Portugal which meant I could not afford to be attacked.
And conquering northern Spain was not a necessity at all to attack Portugal. On the contrary it delayed me a lot !

ATM we are blocked until Spain accepts to talk anyway.

France captured (or re) Medina and Barcelona. Then Spain accepted to talk. We gave them back these two cities but keep the two first cities captured (Saragoza and Pampelona (?) ) in exchange for the lives of our soldiers. We did not demand any gpt or anything like that from them.

The French leader hopes this will abide to the rules of Euopean policy. If not France is still open to negociations.

Spain sneak-attacked France and did some damages, even recapturing one city. France has nothing to do with this war as we left Spanish territory and gave them back 2 cities. We cannot accept responsability this time. Last time he probably prepared for the same thing anyway.

On the other hand we won't accept this treatment from a minor power.
