We can't revolt right now because we don't know Democracy yet. The latest science polling has us getting to the Industrial Age before we would consider researching it ourselves. Lets hope that the AI is reseaching this path for us and then we can trade for it.

A second problem with republic is that our Unit cost jumps considerably. I would need some research to know if the increased income would offset the increase or not.
