calvary vs infantry?

I parked about 12 cannon, 18 calvary, and a couple of infantry outside London. I maybe got three hits with the cannon, and then when i sent in calvary they we're completely destroyed. it would take 3-4 calvary to even take one HP off. is there any way to take out an infantry defended city with calvary?

Artillery. Lots of Artillery. Lots and lots of artillery. Huge stacks of 15-20 artillery guarded by infantry, parked near the city, bombarding it to pieces. When the barracks are destroyed, the city is no longer a metro and the infantry are down to one, swoop in with the cavalry.

12 cannons won't do any good against infantry, why not upgrade them to artillery . It is well documented in the following thread:

You would do better with Sipahi! But your real problem is the size of london. From you statistics (if not inflated) I am guessing it is above size 12 (and possibly on a hill). You will be amazed at how much better things go when you have bombed (or starved) it down to size 6 or below. Then it will only take 1-2 cav to take one HP off (depending on if there is a wall and if it is indeed on a hill).
